Umarex Underrated?

The only problem with the Airsaber and Benjerman Airbow are states with hunting restrictions...They absoutley work..They are cheaper and much more reliable than crossbows.. I can't afford to buy a new crossbow every year or two with the limbs breaking..My last Barnett crossbow the limbs broke and i converted it to a stock for my .510 Texan... crossbows have a amazing hunting season...But crossbows themselves are not relible in most price points..You can spend $3500.00 on a Ravin and it breaks... My Airsaber is 3 years old and does not miss a beat...I can grab it and it consistantly hits and holds point of aim..Its too accurate to shoots groups with under 70 yards with Easton 2219s without hitting arrows... 3inch groups at 120 yards tethered without wind.. The only thing i going to do with my Airsaber in future is to Add a moderator to it..Hopefully this year.. I only dont shoot my Airsaber that much due to being handicap..I hate retrieving arrows from target...

Dam u guys got me beat im definitely amateur compared to some folks here how did u get those Easton arrows to work ? I agree with the xbow statement I have a 350$ bear xbow and I'm grabbing that cobra adder xbow .I had 2 fingers on my left hand amputated below the knuckle so easy effort what I prefer .plus I drive to Arkansas from ny to hunt hog with my airsaber. I love it I think I don't give it its due tho.

I have a Benjamin Airbow which is very accurate as long as I align the fletchings just right but the problem here in Missouri is you can only use it during gun season. I have a Tenpoint Titan M1 crossbow that I've had for 7 years and only had to change the cables and string once, but I only shoot it to sight in each year and hunt an I've taken several deer with it out to 40 yards. I'm hoping the state finally makes it legal to hunt with during our bow season before to long.

All you have to do is buy new completet Easton 2219 XX75 22 inch crossbow arrows ..Use a pair of pliers and remove the knock...it is easy they are not glued...That is it..They are the right size .. The Umarex Carbon Arrows will fail...The glue between carbon fiber and aluminum seperate eventually...Results in a arrow fired..Goes 10-30 yards and the tip blows off mid air sounds like a fire cracker and arrow dives in the dirt...Had multiple umarex arrows fail..This is the problem with the Airsaber..THe Aluminum Eastons are rated at like 98,000psi or something...They are comp arrows they shoot...THe Benjerman Airbow is probably a more quality product than the AIrsaber...THe Airsaber does perform great with external regulator. if you need any help along the way in your Airbow jorney, here to help....Im not a Archer..but a long range Benchrest shooter...THe Airbows are a cheap fun long range traing tool for me... ELR archery..lol

Not to offend the OP but I'm glad he posted this. I've been seriously thinking about an airsaber to extend my "AIR" hunting season. I finally broke down and bought an AEA Challenger .457 last fall. Killed a nice 7 point with it so I'm hooked for sure. I don't understand how you could use a moderator with an airgun that has the projectile OVER the outside of the barrel??? You stated you do long shots with your airsaber, and the other guy said 70 to 120 yards, are they that accurate at those ranges? And are they still lethal at 100 yards? That tip about the Easton arrows is an awesome idea. Sorry for all the questions but I know nothing about air shooting airguns.

Thanks
Ray

I have shot and posted groups here on the forum out 120 yards..I already have scba tanks and e external regulator..So the Umarex Airsaber being unregulated is not a issue for me..I use a UTG 130 BDX crossbow scope with adjustable moa rings..The Airsaber is most powerful at 3400 psi not the full 3625psi.. So i shoot my Airsaber off of a scba tank at 4500 psi and regulate down to 3400 psi when i shoot my Airsaber.. Without wind 3-6inch groups are not that hard to do.. For hunting im never going to shoot more than 2 shots so it okay for my use.. I use my Airsaber for a backup when my .510 Texan breaks, which it does..My only reason for not shooting Airsaber more is cause im handicap..Retrieving Arrows multiple times sucks for me.. The old Benjerman Airbow is regulated and are pretty cheap used...There probably better than the Airsaber.. The Airsaber was real easy with easton arrows for Accuracy to 100 yards.. The power for hunting is the same as the most powerful crossbows made..For broadheads probably SEVER..Rated over 500 fps...I dont trust rage broadheads the blades fly open change poi a bit...Here to help Reed

474 grain 22inch arrow at 405 fps hits hard at 100 yards..Sticks in targets pretty far..The heavy Arrow thing carrys energy.. Can you take medium sized critter at a 100 yards yes.. Should you ..probably not...Wind is a majior thing at ELR archery ranges.. Also having everything perfecrly level very importnt..THe UTG BDX 130 crossbow scope have a level built inside of scope that is really useful..

Okay, so regulated is just for testing and practice? Your saying the airsaber has enough shots to hunt with? Umarex says 20 to 30 shots per fill so 2 shots would be plenty with just 1 being needed if placement is correct. Do you consider whitetail deer "medium game"? Not really worried about 100 yard shots on deer, but was curious if it could keep a group that far in case I happen up on a coyote. If I could get 70 yards on a stock gun with a 3400 psi fill that would be perfect for my hunting needs. I use rage broadheads now on my crossbow. Not really sure if a mechanical is going to work with an airsaber. I guess I'll need to ask around some more about that.
Is the airsaber heavy? Hard to cock? Can you de-cock it?
Thx
Ray

I thought about that myself a few years ago when I considered buying something to launch arrows, decided against it mostly because of how loud they are, someone I know bought one with a barrel the arrow slides over, ungodly loud. Other than that it worked great. If you are than handy sort, you could make a tube that had a couple or more circular fiber pucks like an archery whisker bisquit support, but filled in all around, and not have the stiff support bristles on bottom. Put them in a tube, starting past the airbow barrel, and see if it helps sound and doesn't hurt anything else. I'm not smart enough to do it myself, and you could easily have a bunch of money in it and the air blast from the barrel does weird things with the interaction between the bristles and fletching ruining accuracy. Like I said, I gave up on the idea of an airbow of any type years ago just becaise of the one time I used one at a range it was stupid loud.

so from 3400 psi fill say 2 good unregulated shots for hunting for accuracy..Yes has plenty of power for whitetails.. Its light..the stock is nice..it not bad to cock..The trigger is useable has a bunch of creep..once you get used to it your fine.. There is a saftey on the trigger..

That's cool I'll give that a try .I like it for feral hog .I like using a die-cast arrowhead broadhead lil higher grain between 10-40 yards im ok

I gotta say I use , lol slightly heavier die cast arrowheads. Those broadheads are nice for feral hog u can easily take a 300lb hog down with a nice shot .100 -120 is pushing it .definitely can be done ,I like it between 10- 50 yards for nice accuracy. 120 yards with airsaber thats a fantastic shot my hats off to those folks.my personal best was 71 yards 165lb sow ,arkansas. Ur a gd shot u can take big game

I'm in New york ,boooooo!! Oh man the restrictions pretty sure no airgun hunting for deer or bear .not even sure about small game
I'm on long island cant touch any animals here .40 yards is the perfect range for airbows .Benjamin or airsaber 40 yards is nice shot not sacrificing power
