What are you shooting and at what distance? My truck gun can shoot 30 shots at 30fpe or 10 shots at 60fpe. 36" with the Donnyfl Tanto and only 6lb. I like a rifle over a bullpup for most shooting. Also the budget comes in to play. Looks like you're keeping it mid level by the choices listed. That's very fair for a utility gun. My truck gun is the bottom one. .25 cal and i can toss if around without worry v

Single shot though. Guess it depends on OP's needs.

Yeah, some guys miss a lot.

Never understood the aversion to single shots. Make the first shot count.

Flock of sterlings or Euro doves or house sparrows is GONE after they hear the projectile smack their buddy anyway. Same for other critters, the more times you have to shoot, the less quality shot you're going to be taking, and the less your chances of connecting become.

I've been using a .22 Maximus as my "truck gun"... wheelbarrow gun actually, for when I'm working around the property.

Light weight, synthetic "no worries" stock, accurate enough for my purpose (grackles at 30 to 40 yards), plenty of power at 30ish fpe.

It's only a single shot though. I never need a follow-up shot ( I wish! 😋 ) but fumbling around for pellets is a bit of a pain.

More and more I'm packing a Canadian, 8 fpe, .22 caliber PP750 that I'm effective out to 15 yards or so. It's a scoped repeater with a collapsing wire stock so it's easy to keep in a small backpack with water and snacks. It's fine for chipmunks and any grackles stupid enough to get too close. I'm having some issues with the magazine feeding properly though. I need to look for a better after market mag.

Cheers!

Ok. So you want a 100 yard squirrel smacking .22 budget gun. Maybe look at a Savage or CZ 22lr. My two truck guns are a Leshiy and a Kral Empire XS. They are both .22. Neither is a 100 yard gun. Unless I just want a hit. Now at 75 yard, stuff is gettin dead.

Next question. Slugs or pellets?
I have a fx maverick for slugs so this gun will primarly be pellets
