FWB Found a gem.

Just before Easter weekend I bought this FWB 300 Junior. The seller asked if he could send after Easter, which was fine with me. Two weeks before this, from the same seller, I got another FWB and had to pay $55. shipping, delivered to my door. Which was fine with me. Today I had to go to Purolator to pick up my prize. 45 minutes away on highway. Finally got there, and the desk lady says—- They wanted $170. for delivery. I dislocated my jaw. Same case 2 weeks later 3 x’s the money. I said I wasn’t asking for a flight. Then they ask what kind of gun is in there and they have to inspect it. They might not allow the delivery. This is a first.

Then I’m told it was sent air mail. But, but it came ground. so they can adjust the bill. She got it down to $91. “Robbery”. Call the Police I’ve just been robbed. But agreed to get out of there after a half hour.

The stock on this club gun has some history. The steel is in great shape. But this thing is so smooth to shoot.

Unfortunately the rear cup on the rear sight is missing. Wasn’t aware of that.
Does anyone know if these are available?

This is a great starter gun.
Blown away with the accuracy shooting as is.

‘Score” before I hit post the guy I got this 300 from called me. I told him about the sight missing and he said he will replace it. 👍
Oh, he also told me it was absolutely sent ground. Purolator was BS me.

You might consider replacing the missing iris with a Gehmann. I don’t know how easy it is to find an original. Been thinking about trying one myself on my 300S. Nice score, they are magnificent rifles.

If you are not concerned about strict brand loyalty, LOL, any German eye disk - FWB, Walther, Diana, Weihrauch, and more - will fit the sight. They all mount via the same metric "M 9.5" thread (9.5 x 1.0 mm). But stepping up to an adjustable iris, as Steve M noted, is a great idea (the common thread size enables such aftermarket accessories to thrive).

The stock finish looks original to me. 300S Juniors have beech stocks (not walnut) and the dark stain was typical until late in the production run. The shorter barrel with no weight sleeve and early-style front sight tunnel is another Junior trademark.

I have a Junior action mounted in a re-finished 300SL stock. Here it is next to the original Junior stock, which looks much the same as yours.

Crow, tell the seller you'll find a rear sight iris yourself, ask the seller to compensate you whatever the two of you think is a fair amount and buy yourself a Gehmann 510 described above. I bought one and really like it. I also got carried away and wanted some more bling so bought a Gehmann front sight iris 522A. The two pics below show you the range of openings you can adjust the 522A to.

On the other hand, I don't see anything on your range that lends itself to 10m sights so maybe scope it?

It's a standard-profile accessory rail. A whole world of fun accessories is made for them: riser blocks, hand stops, palm rests, target slings, flush inserts, and more. None of 'em are legal in a formal 10-meter match BTW, but quite useful for other stuff.

What I use most, though, are simple target bipods. Not a functional shooting rest for a recoiling springer, but aids in handling the gun comfortably, without getting dings in the wood. Good to have during a long offhand session with a heavy target rifle.

Contoured and rounded off the square end and it mounts on my Fwb300s, 602 and the 150 that came in today. Also hand stops, palm rests, bipods and with an attachment anything you can make I like the riser as it allows the wide stock on some of those target guns to fit the front owl ear bag on my rest better.

Like some of the others said, get one of the Gehmann adjustable iris diopters, and you will never look back. The standard 510 is great, I have a 502, a micro model to go on a Williams sight on my little HW30. and a couple of models with magnifying lens, where you can focus the front sight and target and one with that and some color filters. I think the best is the plain 510.

Hey Chris. Got the 502 on the way. Couldn’t find a 522A but will look.
Actually have a deadly 10 m. setup. I have a remote target system. Holds 10 targets and pops 1 up at a time by remote. Just not into right now. Hopefully this summer. Crow

Crow, the accessories MDriskill showed you include that little bipod that secures nicely to the accessory rail under the FWB300S fore arm. I have several and used one on my 300S when I shot silhouette competition. They're really nice to set your 300 down on, keeping the gun vertical rather than you laying it down on its side. It 1) makes picking the gun back up easy because you just put your hands under it and 2) you can even cock and load the 300 before picking it up. I actually found this to be pretty relaxing vs. man-handling the gun during cocking and loading.
