N/A Suggestions on first PCP, small game hunting, and having fun.

Prefer a semi-auto, compact as possible, and quiet with a moderator. The new homes near the farm are roughly 35 yards away, and our property moves away from them. I have been compiling a list of ones to consider. Will shoot for fun as well, but many small pests are showing up. We are settled in a valley by a river and get constant breezes to strong winds. I have been watching videos for almost a month, trying to find the decibel readings, but getting an idea is challenging. I lean towards the sidewinder mini, but users' reports have me wondering whether the new neighbors will complain. Huben K1 seems to be considered generally quiet. Will also be shooting at our house during the night. I prefer the sidewinder, but if anyone with experience believes it would be an issue, I would like feedback on what would meet my needs.

Plan to carry the tractor as well when working:

ok not on your list but I only think it is fair to give you a heads up..
I have a hatsan blitz, no I don't recommend it for what you described.. but I purposely got it in 22 caliber so I can shoot cheap crossman pellets from Walmart..
I rarely use the fun switch but this applies to the top of your list..if you get selective fire id recommend staying with 22 caliber..

I would think hard about semi-auto part. It pushes the price up significantly and they all seem to have drawbacks. Hueben has an integral magazine, for instance, so you have to clean it from the muzzle (not a great idea) and push each pellet back out of the magazine to unload it. No way to decock it. I'm not saying it is a bad gun, it's on my radar screen too, but none of these drawbacks exist for a mechanically simpler magazine repeater you cock for each shot. I still manage to shoot a lot of pellets in a short period of time.

I have a Caiman X which is a magazine fed repeater and the long barreled version. The Caiman is even shorter but both benefit from the pivoting hammer design unique to Air Maks. Air Maks also makes the Katran and Krait. They will all make more power and are better machined than budget guns but are comfortably below $2,000. AGT also has several guns that seem to be similar in offering "high end" machining quality without the $2,000-3,000 price tag.

I like my P35s which is almost the same gun as the Stoeger Bullshark. They are sub $500 guns that are short and light. The P35 is about 5 lbs and the Bullshark about 6 lbs (main weight difference is a larger stock on the Bullshark). All three of my P35s are plenty accurate enough for small game and the P35-22 is as accurate as my Caiman X (which cost 3 times as much).

Many good alternatives.

Sidewinder regular size .25 Cal.- You can play with power. Accurate and functions perfectly.

Vulcan 3 700 .25 Cal.- If you do not want to play with power and are in a position of having a rifle not semi, then, with appropriate slug you will have one of the best rifles in the market in respect of accuracy at every distance and reliability.

BRK Ghost .25 Cal.- Super rifle with the alternative of changing calibers.

Delta Wolf.- The easiest rifle to adjust and you can change calibers.

FX Leopard.- The newest technology. Super accurate and powerful.

All I mentioned will be more accurate at long range than the Sidewinder. Just for you to know.

One of my favorites PCP's is my Sidewinder .25 Cal. But beatimg the accuracy of the Vulcan 3 is almost impossible for my other PCP's (and along years I have acquired many more of what I would like).

Looking over these rifles.

AGT Vulcan 3 500mm
Gun Weight 7.93 lbs
Overall Length 31.4
Looks to have great power .25

FX Leopard Compact Bottle
Overall Length 27.16
Weight 7.49

FX Wildcat MKIII BT Compact, Synthetic
Gun Weight 6.30
Overall Length 27.50

Daystate Renegade Synthetic HP .25 - Great price
Overall Length 35
Weight 8.3 lbs
Energy up to 60 ft/lbs

I like the FX MKIII and the AGT Vulcan the most. I gravitate to the Vulcan on looks, but they both are great in specs.

I have emailed and called three shops over the last two days and requested a callback. One shop
called back this late this evening and spoke for nearly an hour. Service and the ability to speak with someone are at the top of my list. So I ordered two PCPs from them and will post about my experience and pictures when they arrive. My wife wanted one of them as we are very competitive in shooting for fun. I need to post a few photos of the water separators as well. I should have used the great feedback before ordering to verify that they will work and be safe.
