Looks like you have a very good handle on these rifles.
As mentioned above , they just don't have much plenum so it's going to be a struggle to get them very pumped up. In 22, the Wolverine taps out at about 47 ft lb in stock guise. It's not going to be a lot better but you're pushing the 25 cal to 52 ft lb in the Renegade so that is PROBABLY achievable in the Wolverine... it's just not going to be more. The unregulated ones seem to have more air flow so maybe can achieve a bit more power. I really don't know that the SSH is going to be less harsh because the primary use is lower power and the behavior is definitely nicer there.
I did try to get 52 ft lb out of a 22 Wolverine R and the SSH gave a VERY sharp transition from 48ish ft lb to 49 and would not make 52 at all. The behavior went from reasonable @ 47 to UGLY at 49. Now I know that a couple of tuners have ground on some stuff to increase flow efficiency and gotten up to 52ish but is it worth it?... there's still not much plenum.
I think I would investigate damping the strike cycle with the BStaley mod concept or button the hammer, etc., rather than the SSH but MAYBE you are onto something there. It just has limited strike energy vs a straight hammer system...
Also, imho, the main reason to focus on power or velocity is to try to get pellets into their respective best accuracy performance areas, not just energy itself. I generally shoot for about 31 to 33 ft lb with 18 gn pellets, 52ish ftlb with MRD's in the poly barrel or 60 ft lb with the 25 cal, 33.4s, as I've found my best performance in those cases. Doesn't mean that other velocities aren't good and will be VERY barrel dependent.
Also, for anyone trying to read something into this, I'm NOT a power monger and am perfectly fine... very happy even, with the Wolverine performance... just wouldn't chose it if I really wanted to LAUNCH something...
