Fill Port Valve Keeps Springing Leaks:

Got a Solution?❓️

Sometimes, without any particular external reasons, it just goes pfffffft, and all air is gone.

Has happened 4 times in the last couple of months (about 10 airtube fillings worth of shooting).
I keep replacing the o-ring, and everything seems back to normal. Till the next pfffffft. 🤷🏻‍♂️
I'm dumbfounded! Or maybe just dumb.

The fill port O-ring is a common source of leaking in SPA PCPs.

It is too soft so it eventually extrudes into the gap formed by the flat on screw #51. Replace it with a 90 durometer. The OEM size is a M1.5x5 but a -008 works equally well in this application.

Might want to also check that there isn’t a burr at the opening of the tapped hole that could be slicing the O-ring.

If it were to continue to be a problem, consider replacing the screw but file a smaller flat on the threads so the O-ring doesn’t have such a large gap to extrude into.

I experienced a similar issue. In my case, the issue was caused by the black anodizing on the seat flaked off leaving a sharp edge. That sharp edge would cause the new O ring to rapidly fail. My solution was to reface the O ring seat with a countersink then replace the O ring with a slightly larger one. I think it is important to understand how this seal functions. It is the differential pressure difference between the tank pressure and the ambient atmospheric pressure outside that forces the O ring into the space between the angular face of the pocket and the angular face of the screw forcing the O ring to seal.
