The .25 ELR slugs are available on our website . In the USA market first to receive them will be Utah Airguns in about 1 month.

- 61.3 grain/ 3.97 gr
- with BC .271 – at 976 FPS (depending on the tune),
- length 13.05 mm .

That creates PRS/Long range best slug ever made. Box contains 200 PCS, each in our standard plastic trays.

I am just asking because of the BC emphasis of “AT 971 FPS” which is 130 fpe. IMHO most well designed slugs with the correct drag function show a relatively constant BC from 850 to 1000 fps. When I tested the .22 Zan 42.3 gr they were at approximately 900 fps, and despite many claims here and on IG to the contrary, my G1 BC was about 10 to 15% less than the .22 @Altaros 40 grain Kings. They did have very good accuracy at 100Y, but not quite as good as the @Altaros.
Reasoning is shooting .25 the @Altaros 60 grain Queen at 880 fps yields a 0.245 BC G1. And cranking most guns up past 105 fpe in .25 results in the juice being not worth the squeeze. So I’m looking forward to testing these heavy .25 ZANs in a few months when they get to the USA.

I assume you need a pretty fast twist for these heavy, long slugs right?

1:16 gives a very good SF (Stability Factor). That is the Superior Slug in .25. The Superior Heavy is 1:18, which works best for the Altaros 49.5 grain. In .22, the 1:16 is the only twist available for slugs in an FX liner.
I think the 1:16 would be fine for the heavy .25 ZANs.
 
I doubt that twist would work well with 60+ grain .25 slugs. Your SF would be under 1.5 (about 1.3). We’re usually looking for 1.5 minimum but not too high. The 60 grain @Altaros Queens in my 1:16 twist have an SF of 2.02.


I was thinking the .25cal Altaros Smooth at 49.5gr.

Don’t know about the RTI barrels. The Altaros Smooth 49.5 shoot well in a 1:18 twist barrel. So I’d think 1:20 would still be ok.

As a painter among things / educations, i would like to see your painting setup, maybe that will be revealed some day in a video.
That is a nice wish :giggle: I have started this project 2 years ago, took my sleep, a lot of money and know how. I developed everything from nothing. Making picture or video would be ultra stupid from my side :giggle: I hope you do understand.
 
Hehe actually me having the brain i have, and experience in powder coating, and educations for other forms of surface treatment and painting.

Parried with a sleep disorder with a run away brain, I have already devised how such a setup might look.

Me ( hands ) in my last job, though this of course a bit large at least VS what my mind have come up with for painting little lead lumps.



PS, this setup was 300 % slower in painting than i am, used 200 % more paint and at least 200 % more filter in the paint booth, but company thought it was a excellent investment,,,,, i only painted a few hours every day CUZ output and drying oven not larger / faster than that.

What i envisioned in my bed just need a small booth, with a cyclone of course to reuse / recycle surplus powder, a conveyor system, and of course a curing oven, everything of course in a continuous line, there should be no need to stop.

Curing oven probably need to be custom made as they are often large, but a conveyor can make round trips in such a oven before exit to make sure the things are in there long enough for paint to do what it need to do to be good.
I once worked in a place where the curing oven was on top of the painting line.

My mind assume just 1 spray gun would be sufficient.

Conveyor much like in my last job, slug would spin around when passing through paint section.
slugs should of course be only 2-3 Cm apart on the conveyor, it should look like a belt fed Machine gun so to say.
Conveyor speed slow though as otherwise curing oven can not keep up, a " automated " taking off painted slugs would probably be easy to make, but you would probably need someone to put the slugs on the conveyor ( upside down placed with peg up the hollow point )

My sleep deprived mind think this can be done on about 15 - 20 Sq M of floor space.
