N/A Old Pumper New Guts and Look

I decided to give a little love to my old Crossman 392PA. New brass cartridge with new valves and springs installed. Then I decided to sand it down and Linseed oil then seal with Deft Polyurethane Satin finish.

This gun started life as a Mach 1 Steroid with billet cocker. It is even better with this new cartridge update some 15 years later. At 70 thow, I wont be shooting as much as I did back when irt was first new, that pump is a bear, even for just 600 fps, but it sure makes me smile once it has 6 pumps in it.

Nice outfit for sure. I wish i would have gotten the scope mount grooves cut in mine like you did. At the time though i was sure i could use open sights forever. lol
I almost didn't but when I talked to Tim about doing this, and making it sure the Sheridan wasn't a better choice, he recommended the grooves. He told me this was primarily a better choice being a .22 cal. and similar design. But did say I would be much better to add the grooves in case my eye ever needed the scope. GOOD CALL, today I need optics @ 70, some things get better with age,,, the eye didn't!

Sadly Tim no longer does his magic on these old pumpers, to bad, he was great at what he did!

They DO make adapters for mounting a scope on Sheridans without having to cut grooves. If I can find the link I'll post it. Found it.

Yes they clamp on, and the grooved receiver is much better and I would highly recommend it if absolute repeatability is of concern. I have seen some JB weld the clamp and other extremes to hold an absolute zero. But to me this an entirely to capable of a air gun to settle for the unreliable clamp.

I've also seen where some over the years have even stripped the aluminum trying to anchor their scopes in a permanent fashion as the grooves allow. But I USE my guns, and bumps and bangs are going to happen, and when I place the crosshair on something, I expect the pellet to go to that exact spot! I guess this is just the damages of shooting competition Benchrest for over 40 years? I just cant except once in a while!

I like those. They work good on Sheridans, and I like them on my Crossman H9A as well.

I don't like the mount that I bought from Baker Airguns.
