Silent thunder ordnance - WINNER

Page 2 👊🏼

I wish that I could've had the opportunity to try one of STO's moderators but he would not ship to my location in Guam. I wanted to try out the baffle insert for the Leshiy Classic and placed my order but he canceled my order and immediately refunded my CC. That was about the only positive experience I've had with him was the quick refund without me asking. Made me feel like I'm from a 3rd world country. I've ordered several moderators from DonnyFL and Neil Clague with never a problem. I really don't like badmouthing companies but since we're on the topic and I had a negative experience, although not with the product, I figured I would say something. You guys in the mainland are lucky!

Go to a dollar store and pick up some scotchbrite knock off pads. They have no grit. Grit from the real scotchbrite pads can find their way into the bore. A huge No-No and there is no way to stop it as it occurs from back pressure. Additionally, in a pcp with some power, it will begin to shred rather quickly and enter the projectile path. Wrap the spring with fine micro pore ss mesh then the pad. ;)<

Dollar Tree is where I get most of the parts for my DIY LDCs. I haven't tried the weak springs though. It is harder to find actual pictures/design diagrams than parts lists, which I am sure makes the producers of high priced AG moderators very happy. (sigh)

Here is what I get from Dollar Tree:

And this is what I use from Harbor Freight. Sorry no label, but it is the "male" end (cup washer) from a grommet replacement kit.

I hope that helps. I am sure similar products are available at any dollar store. The grommet kit was just something I already had. Washers, metal or other material will probably work as well or maybe even better.

And here is an example of how the scouring pad is wrapped around the cut curler before it is placed into the 1 inch PVC pipe. One end of the curler must be snipped in 4 places to allow the grommet washer to fit into it and ensure centering. Sorry, but my phone does not take pictures well up close and my hands are not steady trying to hold the phone in one and a flashlight in the other to take these pics.

Got to concur here.

Maybe the STO designs shine most with HP airguns?

After checking out all the data he posted, and given my love for N. Tesla, I took the leap and slapped a Sarissa on my .303 Red Wolf. I swapped the Emperor v3 back and forth with it, and also with my .30 Uragan, and it was indeed quieter to my ear than the very impressive but very LARGE Emperor on both. It's almost too quiet... I keep thinking the guns are malfunctioning, losing power... just hammer slap... until I hit something hard... NOPE.

Kudos to STO for design innovation and data crunching.

I'll have to look up the weights, but by feel its literally half the perceived weight of the Emperor.

EDIT : Emperor 454 grams (1 lbs), Sarissa 260 grams.
Are you talking about the accipiter version of the sarissa? I see you mentioned the n. Tesla and that's on the accipiter version. I'm trying to figure out wich sarissa is quieter, the regular version or the accipiter version

Technically, they're both Sarissas. The Accipiter is a lighter weight Sarissa. Internals are the same.
