Just got the GK1 in .25 and trying to safely tune it in my small backyard. I want to shoot 48 grn .254 AVS slugs 800 fps. Bought a steel bullet trap for .22 rimfire but I'm trying to shoot from a pistol rest at 10 yards so worried about safety. I bought 2 6'x1'x1" boards cut both in thirds and stacked and bound the result giving me 2 2'x1'x3" squares that i can bind to have 6" of solid wood to cach my slugs with the trap behind...
6 inches of wood should stop them on it's own right? Does this sound like a sane plan?

It will even shoot through the wood. My pellet trap is simply a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket filled to the top with rubber mulch topped with the Home Depot lid. I turn the buck horizontal and tape the target to the lid. I have shot up to .25 (33.95gr) moving at 970 fps from a rifle and nothing has come close to making it to the back of the bucket. Most of pellets still look undeformed when recovered. Total cost about $20. It never developes a worn out spot in the mulch like wood does

I would not consider that safe,especially if you have neighbors right next door.The GK-1 is a powerful pcp producing up to 80FPE (with 50gr altaros).Just go to the shooting range or build something a little more significant/safe.some ideas in addition to plywood in combination are.
- boxes filled with rubber mulch (stacked)
- 8”x16” cement blocks stacked ($2 ea)
- tough rubber gym flooring (24sq/ft $20)

I personally use a combo of all these items as well as 2 8’x4’ stacked 3/4 inch pine plywood behind it all.But im plinking back there a little not just sighting in.To shoot a $1300 pcp be prepared to spend $100-$150 to do it safely..Congrats on the acquisition these GK’s are incredible!

You're going to be waiting years - just like the K1 they will just meet production. Why innovate when what you're pumping out sells out and you can't make enough anyways is what they have been doing since inception.

I don't know what you heard but the mag is flawless to me and I love the fact it's fixed ( I'm a revolver guy )....yeah you gonna wait a long time, as they say why fix something that isn't broken ?

Huben is NOT likely going to make a removable magazine as this is the same tried and true reliable magazine they have used for years on their rifles. That is actually why this pistol has been so hot. I can attest that the action is reliable and jam free. I just shot last weekend and shot 650 rounds and it was accurate to the point there was no need to even wait more than 1 to 3 seconds in between shots with zero issues. I have been keeping up with the forums and really I only heard of one person whom had issues with jams with pellets (it sounded like he had an issue with the barrel that was corrected by feedback from other posters and it was not due to the magazine) and the rest were people rushing to shoot slugs without researching to get the right diameter. The GK1 is really from what I read is ideally designed for pellets but can shoot slugs if you do your homework and get the right diameter and quality slugs.

Removable mags (like on the Western Airguns -Huben clones) are not any better. They are a pain to insert due to gears and have a cover that needs to be removed and put back on after loading. They are also titanium and $160 each. Finally, with the removable mags, the action is exposed and much louder. Be careful what you wish (or wait) for.

With 17-19 rounds in the mag, it's hard to contemplate why anyone would complain about it being non removable.

The trade off is definitely worth it.

The smile on people faces with the full auto on the sidewinder is priceless - and having a ton of mags is a god send.

Before purchasing the GK1 I would have preferred a removable magazine but also knowing how well the reputation of the Huben built in magazine has been for these many years gave me confidence to make the purchase. When I shot last Sunday I was able to get used to the Huben3dparts.com speed loader gate that allows up to 3 pellets to be loaded before needing to rotate the magazine and I was able to load the full 17 rounds in less than a minute which was faster than surrounding powder burners could load their removable mags so that was not bad. At least it holds 17 rounds in .25 and with the speed loader I am fairly content as the magazine and pistol is very well built and reliable. I have followed most forums and jamming is not common with the GK1 with pellets, only slugs and that still seems like those are all due to using wrong ammo from people not researching the forums as the GK1 needs .254 for slugs.

Alex just built it. I don’t think he actually sells them. Air rifle activities is his YouTube channel. I’m not very tech savvy so copying a link I may or may not get it right.
Google: Air Rifle Activities on YouTube and you’ll see how he built the stock. You’re going to need a longer stock bolt
