Anyone using a ProChrono DLX?

I've been using the ProChrono DLX for many years. I almost exclusively use it indoors, and I always put blue painters tape over the sensors when not in use.

-Michael
MICHAEL: why the blue painters tape over the sensors when your ProChrono DLX is not in use? I wipe the sensors off mine with a lens cloth at the close of each session and put the whole thing in it's box (no, not original) and put it away for another day on the range. By the by, I've had my DLX for less than a year and find that it performs as advertised. I only purchased it when my TX200 started shooting below par, and it told me what I needed to know. One word of caution here: get a reading on all your guns, so that when it begins shooting shooting differently, you'll have the numbers to back you up for repairs. That way you don't buy a piston seal when all you needed were breech 0 rings. Orv.

I've been using the earlier ProChrono model for six years and it's now becoming unreliable. I'm not terribly upset with it's lifespan. It's gotten tons of use. I'm considering getting the newer DLX model to make it easier to record and save shot strings.

If you have one and use their app could you please give me your thoughts?

To keep things on point. I want to say, I'm a break barrel springer guy so I'm not interested in pocket chronos that you have to attach to the barrel. I can't afford a Lab radar or the new FX Radar.

Thanks
I'm using the newer one myself, and for me anyway it beats the few others I've had.

Ron, echoing the positives everyone else has said. If you had the older version you already know about avoiding trees, using the filters in bright light, etc. Prefer these over barrel mounts because I can check data at 20, 30, whatever yardage I want. Barrel mounts also hard to use on our bows ha ha. I have the app on an old iPad, no issues. You’ll like the instant feedback, and for me the voice feature is great. Don’t even have to remove your eye from the scope to know what you got. Id like to see it calculate average FPE also. Maybe we should all send them an email. I have a nearly 25 year history with CE products starting with their Turbo 30 battery charger. Their customer service and made in USA were big selling points for me when I went chrono shopping.

I was just looking at buying one of the Pro Chronos today....I've got a shooting Chrony that I've had for probably 30 years and have never had a problem with it. I recently made a lighting kit for it, I bought some cheap LED's from amazon and mounted them on strips of thin plexiglass and just clamp them to the plastic screens and powered by a lithium fish finder battery....haven't had an error since adding the lights. I think I'm going to get one of the pro chronos for the Bluetooth....:)

I have the ProChrono, the FX pocket, and the cheap Chinese one. To me, the FX is easiest/quickest to use. I wouldn't rule it out because you shoot a springer. You can use it with a small tripod. The Pro Chrono DLX is nice, but more setup is required. I have the optional light kit and it works very well on overcast days, BUT I shoot from a covered deck and have nearby access to electricity to power the light kit. The Chinese one is cheap and accurate, but attachment/setup will require some pre-planning and possibly some crude fabrication to shoot through it.
can you post the photo of chinese cheap chronograph ? i am looking for chronograph

I’ve owned the variant with the separate Bluetooth unit for near ten years. Never a problem. However, I got tired of having to use an extension cord to plug in the wall wart when using the light bars. I took a chance and bought the battery powered light kit that Caldwell sells for use with their chrono. It was essentially plug and play. I had to very slightly ream the Caldwell light bars to fit the rods of the Prochrono and that was it.

It was a few extra dollars but it made the Pro Chrono a lot nicer to use. I just checked on the availability and it still can be purchased. Midway is advertising the kit and I’d guess there are other vendors out there.

I have the DLX, just hate dragging it out. Just bought the Garmin and that went back. You need to create an account to use the app and one of the permissions is to use your contacts. I'm not having it, so back to the DLX.
Garmin did not require me to do anything other than load the app and sync?
