FX FX Vs Competitors

I appreciate your input! I’m hoping for something versatile with a 500mm barrel that’s easily manageable in and out of the truck or side by side.
If your gun is likely to get a knock then steer clear of the impact, (in fact most of the fx modular platforms) I only had to look at mine sternly and it would get poi shift.

After owning a couple of compact bullpups I have come to the conclusion they are not for me, I prefer a longer gun be that in a chassis or wood.

One thing that isn’t often mentioned, if you live somewhere that gets cold in winter, the novelty of holding a gun with a metal chassis wears thin very quickly.

Thanks Emu! Are the AGTs compact barrels as well? What pellets/ slugs are your shooting with those and at what velocity?

When I was able to compare the V3 and M3 side by side the impact was crushing it in accuracy although I know a lot of that comes down to tuning.
My Vulcan 3 .30 Cal is a 700 mm

Uragan is 600

Vulcan 2 I do not know the length of the barrel.

Airgun Technology rifles shoot equally perfect JSB pellets and NSA slugs.

My FX Panthers is NOT accurate with slugs, nor my Sidewinders.

My panthera has been really solid with the 34 gr. H&N heavy slugs. Head shots on ground squirrels from 85 yds - 110 yds has been pretty easy if I get my wind reading correct;) The panthera hasnt missed a shot at those distances that was the rifles fault. The misses have all been from bad wind calls. I have also hit my barrel multiple times and still been shooting fine for poi. Slugs are a funny thing with airguns for some reason. There seems to be no rime or reason as to why one rifle shoots them good and the next guy with the same rifle with the same basic setup struggles. I finally got my impact shooting the same slugs really good. I only have one day of proving it out tho so we will see if it holds up over multiple shooting sessions.

Mind explaining a little bit into why you prefer it to the MKII? Thanks in advance!
The Ghost is simpler and a much more solid platform. Off hand it feels better also. I wouldn't be concerned about putting it in a hard case and strapping it on a quad, whereas I would with the Impact.

I really just want superb accuracy out to around 150 yards. Are you running .30 cal, what grain pellets do you prefer and what’s your comfortable “long distance?”
If you want “superb” accuracy out to 150 then there is something you should know. With a M3, it can be done. But prepare yourself for way more time spent trying to accomplish it than actually driving around with it in your side by side and having fun with it. The big difference between a M3 and every other gun is how much time you spend testing each projectile. A M3, because it’s almost infinitely adjustable, is a consumer of lead. With other platforms, testing is much more simple. They either like a slug or don’t. With a M3, the owner believes if he twists enough knobs, he can make it work. That equates to wasted time and money plus frustration.

FX Impact is extremely tunable platform and the extra accuracy can be obtained by easy tuning without disassembling the gun.

POI shift complains are there.

RAW is a very sturdy platform. Can be used with multiple calibers. But to adjust the regulator one has to disassemble it. Or use a Huma regulator.

Impact or their other tactical & adjustable guns ARE NOT the only superbly accurate platforms by FX. I'm much more of a classic rifle kinda guy than tactical designs & the 3 FX (& only) airguns I own leave me TOTALLY satisfied. Whenever I see a relative newcomer jumping into the rabbit hole with an o-ring laden, overly adjustable, problem ridden (for Newbies) gun I just want to wish them BEST OF LUCK. I'm so glad I chose a no frills, no hassle, laser accurate oob (out-of-box) gun that, 7 years down the road, STILL gives me a thrill no matter WHAT I'm shooting at (mostly varmints). Whatever you end up getting I hope you find the same joy & satisfaction I've had with the Bobcat, Royale, Boss platform. Best of luck to you.

Absolutely open to others and with all this ghost talk I’ll definitely be doing my research on those! I’m all for the off hand shooting but want something compact as well. Thanks for the reply!
You might also look at the FX Wildcat 3 compact. Very light weight and accurate The bt has a larger plenum for more power too. Thats my next gun as I had the Wildcat 3 sniper and m2 compact both tack drivers. Sold the sniper to get the Impact and gave my son the compact.

Is your ghost pretty comparable in accuracy? Are you shooting same cal and barrel length ? What grain pellets/ slugs and roughly what distances are your shooting comfortably?
The ghost is a pellet slinger in25 cal. Accuracy is a toss up between the two but the ghost needs less checking before you go shoot. My impact was ran in 22 and 357, the ghost trigger (Zx10wall) can match the impact. I shoot out to 100, but generally 50 yards. I got the impact for slugs and hunting, I hated having to burn off shots to keep the reg happy. It is fine punching paper but to go sit for an hour or 2 it didn’t instill confidence in me. What is you uses? I think the impact can be fine tuned for more accuracy if you fiddle with it every time you get it out. If you don’t want to tweak the ghost is darn solid but a pellet slinger(no slugs). I think the panthers family is good advice if you want big power and slugs. Same with the agt stuff. If your fine with pellets I’m running 34grn jsb at 61fpe accurately.

When I decided I wanted to upscale to a higher end PCP, I looked at a lot of different brands and models. After several months of reading reviews and comments on this and other sites, I had narrowed my search down to just a few choices including FX Impact and Maverick, but in the end I went with an RTI Prophet Performance version 1.

I think the main reason was the simplicity of the RTI's design.
I understand and get the fine adjustability of the FX guns and someday will probably own one, but as my first higher end PCP, simple just seemed like a better place to start and the FX guns on my short list just seemed unecesarily complex for a first timer. At least that was my perception.

Now fast foward to 2024 and there are a lot of choices that were not available when I was looking, so who knows what I might choose today. But even at that, I am still 150% happy with what I have now.

That’s good to know, I’m sure it’ll be getting bumped around at some point or another.

Solid point there, fortunately my winters don’t get too cold at all so that shouldn’t be an issue though.

Thanks again for taking your time to provide your insight!

I actually haven’t seen that until now, very similar to the Vulcan 3! There’s just too many damn options haha I’ll have to add that to the list of research I need to do now.

Yeah that’s right where I’m at, I thought I was going to be set with the Vulcan 3 but now I have quite a few others on the list and need to do some narrowing down.

I hear you with the simplicity and I’m all for that, I also want to feel confident every time I pull it out and not be thinking there may have been a poi shift.

Thanks for your input, all this is definitely opening my eyes but also narrowing things down a bit for me!

Would you say at 100 you’re shooting sub Moa with the ghost? I’m mainly just looking for a squirrel killer but also a fun bench gun that can stack pellets every time I grab it.

I’m definitely fading away from the impact with all this talk of having to adjust every time I want to shoot. I don’t have any issues shooting pellets, I like the idea of keeping the power down for better shot count and hopefully a little less noise.

Thanks a lot Gerry! I hear where you’re coming from and definitely don’t want to dive into something that’s going to be more of a headache than a joy shooting. That’s awesome to hear that yours have been going strong for 7 years now, I can only hope to get something that’ll last me that long! Again, I appreciate your time and input!

Vulcan II barrel length 500 mm for bullpup as well as tactic. Bulpup is a short stout hunter. Solid w/ no poi shift, robustly built & performing with surgical precision. Ergonomically pleasing, well balanced & notorious for shooting at distance very well with both pellets and slugs. Beautiful hunting/stalking/truck gun = bullpup. Bench gun = tactical. Half the shot count of Vulcan 3 approximately. “Wolf in sheeps clothing”.
