How easy / hard is it to sell on here.

Every gun I have listed here has drawn nothing but crickets. The same guns listed on EBay brought hundreds more than I asked here and usually sold within a day or two. Just look at how many times some listings have been renewed. This is a great place to learn about Airguns from we jaded old experts but I don’t think we are the best customer base. Most of us have already owned most everything. The guns that do sell here are often at well below market. Making this a great place to buy. And yes I have bought several.

Everything I’ve ever sold here sold almost instantly. Popular and unpopular guns. The secret? Sell it for what it’s worth to most. Don’t price it at what it’s worth to you. If you suffer from sunken cost syndrome, you are in the wrong hobby. I have plenty of airguns and airgun stuff that isn’t worth the aggravation of boxing up and shipping for chump change. I just keep it and eventually give it away to someone who appreciates a freebie.

If you want to sell here, I agree. If I'm going to buy, I'll buy new. Fleabay prices on used are so high there's generally no reason to buy used. I'll sell on Fleabay for top dollar, or as a last resort, sell here in the Classifieds. Few well educated users here are going to pay a fair price. Sometimes I sell it here cheaper than I could elsewhere to help others, some of whom have helped me.

Regarding the renewing of listings, the latest game is members don't renew the listing. When it comes up for renewal, they let it expire and create a new listing to make it look new. I have suggested to management a rule I've seen on other forums: that a member may only have one listing on the first page of the classifieds, to no avail. Guys with 10 posts on page one or 34 renewals have made the classifieds a garbage pit. After 34 tries, either lower the price or keep it. When your one post goes off page one, you are free to post another one.

I have sold somewhere between eight and 10 Airguns in the classified. I generally price them to sell. If I wanted to wait for a higher price, I would do it but I’m usually too anxious to sell because there’s something keeping me awake at night until I get it.
AGN is the only place I list Airguns for sale. And have been 100% successful.

Zero buyer/seller protections here. eBay is far better of a marketplace. Until AGN forces a payment system with BOTH buyer and seller protection, I avoid the classifieds here like the plague..but that is just me personally.

Too many people trying to evade income/sales tax here with money orders and paypal f&f which is very much illegal, and quite a few people here would have a fit if they had to use a service that reports their sales to the IRS.

I'm not there yet but when I am, is it relativley easy to sell airguns through the classifieds here? By easy I mean, if you've sold on here, was it pretty quick on average or did it sit for a long time?

I would only be interested in selling what I have locally in the Bay Area and no shipping.
Hello @dovejj

I have sold quite a bit of various items here on the Classified. Giving a true and complete accurate description along with plenty of photos and a "fair" price. The word "fair" surely has different meanings to different members, some expect to have a 50% reduction of the current market price but the majority understand a honest good value and willing to pay your asking price. Good luck.

I started a tread on this topic.

Check the tax laws please, this is largely untrue.

If an airgun is sold at a loss, it's exempt (check for details with your CPA) as the first $600.00 of sales annually.

Also, running a P&L sheet, just about any attached expense can be deducted and your loss comes off the bottom line.

Most people who have a CPA would not realize a tax burden at all for what we do.
You are going to need receipt proof you sold it at a loss. You can't just claim it was at a loss.
