Sheridan Sterling HR-83 .177

Sometimes I do a quick search on these old guns I've been hanging onto for the longest time before posting, and I a little shocked at this one.
I remember first seeing this gun in an 80's gun digest when I was a kid, and thought it was the coolest looking airgun ever. An underlever bolt action.
Fast forward 20 or so years and I acquired at least three. Two HR-81's and and a HR-83. I remember buying them in the $200 - $300 range 20 years ago. Sold the HR-81's.
There is even a wiki article on them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sterling_HR-81
I then did a quick search on a value, and this is what I came up with: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1349639980.../+A5FFw4QXpPzg4ag8napXAiSf|tkp:Bk9SR-7SmbbgYw

1K for a Sterling? If only I held out for another 15 years on the other two!
Oh well, this one is minty. Shot the 81's, but not this one.

Very clean looking example!

The Benjamin catalogs carried the HR81/83 models between 1984 and 1994 and were made here in the U.S. during that whole decade. Still, not many seem to have been made in spite of the ten years that passed.
In an attempt to determine how the serials fit into the mix of other Benjamin production guns from that era, I have been keeping track of them. Would you mind sharing your serial number for the records? So far, I've seen "J" and "T" prefixes followed by six digits.

Sure. That gun is at one of my stash houses though. Will be a few days.

I'd throw in a williams peep sight for 1K. Have a few of them laying around from 20 year complete rig sales.
Yeah, but you don’t have that stock. 😉
I bet you don’t have any nice walnut fiddleback for an HR83 just laying around.
HR83 was almost $500 list. And IF I collected them I wouldn’t have a problem dropping $1000 for the perttiest one I ever saw. Collecting is a romantic endeavor. You know. I think you do and you’re being coy. 👍
