Air Arms How well can a light knock down PCP shoot

Just retired, was into powder burners for years when younger, benchrest and Mettalic Sil . Recently pulled out my "box of stuff" , it said '86 on it, lol, so it's been a minute since ive been shooting!

Live against the woods n creek, have 4 super fit GSD's and run them daily on my Ebike through the woods and along the creek . I wanted to return to shooting, but something suitable for my yard, and the woods/creek rides. Meant it had to break down, be small , light, and accurate. Ended up with an Air Arms S410 TDR FAC in .177.

It was NIB, built in 2005, never fired. Took a week to get it sorted and shooting properly, she now does. Super light, 2-12 good scope, bipod out front. Comes apart, fits in a backpack it comes with , that IS NOT the size of a suitcase like the new 510 TDR does. Rides well on my back, doesnt hinder me on the bike, goes together in 20 seconds, does not loose zero.

It is constantly windy here, and when i hunt/plink, the wind is a constant. So 10 -20 mph most of the time, was no need in a 4K gun shooting 1/4" 50 yd groups. Cant do that in the wind here. I am after excellent hunting accuracy, out to 75 yds. I am also 69, and tend to like OLE SKOOL poop best. This 410 TDR in wood is beautiful, in my eye, and holds off hand very very well. Light nuff to pack all day, with a 190 bar fill, 55 same POI shots , all i need.

I have tried several days to "see what she can do" but the wind has been heavy. I shall get a calm day this month, but till then i gave up on the idea of benchresting it , rather focus on POI and learning the scope and how it shoots. Been using an 18 dollar Amazon bipod, which works fine, but not the most stable, lol.

Shooting at 25 and 50 yds, in the typical winds here. Today, i put out 25 and 50 yd targets, it was a windy as i would ever shoot a .177 in today, figured it would be a great "hunting test" . It likes the cheap ass Premier HP pellets, at $6.99 a tin........lucky me. After shooting all my pellets into media, i actually like the terminal performance of these the best also. A double win for me!!!!

Put on bipod, shouldered rifle like id be in field. Filled to 190 bar, i got 55 same POI shots, accurate down to an indicated 60 bar!!!! Kinda shocked me.
Also shocked by how it shoots. Was so windy the targets where blowing off the backstop, pulling the scotch tape loose, and flapping. Took shots when paper settled.
I was amazed at its performance.

Shot at 50yds, but made a rookie mistake, and taped the target to my metal squirell reset target , doh. Each shot splattered on the metal behind target and within 5 shots the whole target was shredded, lol!!!! So no 50 target just yet, and 92F outside now, so it's gotta wait. I KNOW , even in the heavy wind, it shot an inch or under at 50.

Wonder waht it can do in still air?????

ANYONE else into take downs????? Anyone have thge 410/510 TDR and shoot it much???? Im 100% happy i bought it, instead of gthe Edgun for way more.

25 yards, bipod/shoulder, heavy wind. $7 pellets........................ill take these and run...................lol

Why are you surprised? It's an Air Arms! They are heirloom quality.
The engineering om these guns is stellar.
So well balanced there is no need to touch them or tinker. It's a gem straight out of the box. And the TDR versions are not cheap! Cherish this one.
I love my S400 to death. It will never leave. I have already had my son's initials engraved in the stock. I'm that sure he will have it one day.

50 yards , bit less wind , she is absolutely good to hunt anything i would at 50 yards .

Cant wait to try 75

Wide shots out of bull was me finding correct dot to hold on

Turns out , zero at 25 yds , hold is only 1 dot on my moa scope FFP , no need to remeber turret settings , wonder how much drop going to 75 ? These HP's must be a flying to only drop that little at 50 yards . Not ever having fired a bb gun to 50 yards before , i figured it would drop like 4 or 5 inchs .

This aint my childhood days BB gun is it!!

Getting close to hunting with the new TDR . Several tins of ammo have loosened her action , and im getting use to it . Wont take a new gun hunting until i KNOW how it will shoot , not about poor shots on critters , even rats .

Need more scope magnification , the 12 doesnt work for me out at 75 and 100 yards .

i hunt offhand or with front bipod/shoulder . .250 groups mean NOTHING off bags or solid rests , it does not translate to hunting situations i find myself in . WHY im shooting in the winds , NOT BENCHRESTED , just a bipod and shouldered , sitting or laying on the ground . Why sight in or practice off heavy bags and still wind??? I have never understood hunters who show me 1 inch groups at 100 , yet offhand or just bipod on ground , couldnt hit the target period . Shooting off a lead sled or bags is not hunting , least not my kind .

Bought 18 buck bipod , not sure if it is the cheap pod or me , but having trouble steadying the cross hairs out at 50 plus yards . Prolly me

Either way , she shoots well enough now to just about hunt with .

Shot few minutes ago , heavy winds , not steady ,, sitting on ground with bipod all way up .

This is about as rough as i will have it and about to call it good

50 yards

Who else practices offhand or bipod in actual hunting conditions ???

I had one of these in 22 quite a while ago, and sadly sold it to Tyler P from pyramid if I remember correctly. The rifle would just down right shoot! Added a Lane regulator I believe and it made the rifle even better. The thing i didn't like was trying to attach the stock quickly. I much prefer a side fold sold to a removable one.

i'm old-school and not a mafia hitman so I don't really care of that it takes 20 seconds to put together what I care about is it fits in a small enough pack to take with me everywhere and not be obvious. being old-school I love the look of the Woodstock and the beautiful bluing on the rifle also , and love its quality . Side folders have ZERO interest for me , as do the para military look . Im hunting squirrel , not Zombies , lol

This one will shoot too . Spect off steady rest , indoor or no wind , she would stack pellets at reasonable distances . I will see one day .

I wanted the 410 tdr in .22 , looked for a year to find this one , settled on .177 and now glad i did . With more practice and getting back into shooting form , think she will be good out to 100 yards .

if I ever see another 410 TDR in 22 I absolutely will buy it. I have owned 100's of rifles , use to bench and shoot metallic , have had many sweet powder burners . Sold my last match gun , a 40XB , im only doing PCP from now on .

I like this tdr more than any rifle i have owned before . Its shouldering is perfect , weight is perfect , and after looking at other PCP's , super happy with its fit finish and workmanship , it will be a keeper . The fact i can put it on my back in 1 minute , ride my ebike out to the woods with it , sweetens the deal for me .

Im ready to take the TDR into the field .
As it turns out , the 410 is not the limiting factor in field accuracy , I am .

I use to shoot well , was worried this light barrel TDR would not hold its end of the bargain . Was unfounded concern , lol , TDR, in field conditions, shoots better than i can ! I am trying to practice and help the gun , lol .

Maybe 5 or 6 tins in , action now smooth enough to chamber next shot while still on cheek . Super Impressed with the Athlon scope , even though i put it up for sale 🙈 . Not having feed issues , but did have to contort the lifter arm 20 times to achieve that . Trigger , which i have not and will not touch is magic . Prolly near a pound or a touch more , but CRISP , and 100 percent repeatable . Could not ask for better for a hunting rifle .

Just now , winds howling 20 and gusty , sitting on ground , bipod all way up , 50 yards . Took 1 shot at each , in order top left to bottom right , went round 3 times . Quick sight acquire and quick shot , 3 to 4 seconds a shot , some much quicker when she felt glued in .

i feel confident enough now in it and finally me to hunt out to say 60 yards right now , using only the bipod and sitting or laying or against a tree . Feel confident anything i shoot at inside 60 will be hit properly and killed humanely .

More i shoot this thing , more i appreciate just how far bb guns have come . Sorry i know its a PCP precision piece , but at 69 , they will always be BB guns to me .

Ordered a kit to swap her to quick connect , the AA brass adaptor is bullpoop , lol .

Speaking of , i loose a bunch of air everytime i fill it from a tank . Hear it hissing like mad at the valve . My little bottle should give me 8 fills , only get about 4 or 5 due to the loss

Is it the adaptor , yes i have lubed the orings on it , or possibly ??? the airline that came with my mini bottle . Got bottle cheap , seems to work fine , other than the air loss while filling . Gun fills fast even with the leak
