As of right now if you have any non-related airgun discussions you're supposed to put them in your "updated profile". Problem with that is that nobody will ever see it. I don't check people's profiles unless I'm buying or selling something from them. I think it would be great if we had a non-air gun related thread we can post things in. It's just a thought but I think it would benefit us all along with a machine shop thread.

I would rather not read about non air gun things here . I was stretching it yesterday when i posted buying the property next to me . But that does increase my range by 300 feet .

That is the last thing we need here. Their are other sites that cater to that sort of discussion. It would degenerate into a mudslinging mess. Anytime you interject discussions regarding politics, religion, gender, or any other controversial subject, people get medieval. Look at the amount of that sort of thing that has appeared here even without a forum for it. It keeps the admins busy deleting unwanted politically oriented offshoots from airgun discussion. This is AGN not X.

We used to have an Off Topics Section here on AGN. It got removed for the reasons mentioned above.

So, when there was a recent thread about seeing raptors (vultures/buzzards in particular), that should have been in the "Updated Profile" where no one could see it?
That thread had a lot of participation, so not sure why something of that nature is not allowable. Why wasn't that shut down? Perhaps it wasn't seen by a Moderator.
There are plenty of essentially non-air gun related topics on AGN.
Politics and religion are already not welcome topics, I well understand why, but something about nature that many of us hunters see regularly shouldn't be 'banned' to someone's profile that will not be seen or open for discussion.
I guess that it must be overloading the system.

I agree with the OP. I completely don’t understand the flack. It would be a completely different section that those that don’t care to see it don’t have to click on it. I am for anything that increases traffic. I like to read new topics and I don’t think there would be any system overload. This site isn’t that highly trafficked.

But your post would still appear in the new posts , not just in the separate heading , when i post this it will appear as "a moment ago or 1 minute ago "

Only because you never experienced it. Yeah I can see people throwing poop at one another. I don't want that either. I'm 70 years old, I grew up and was taught that you respect other people. I've already seen it on AGN where people are rude and disrespectful. Airgun Nation IS my social media, I have an Instagram account that I used to talk to my son when he was alive. He worked for Motortrend and Instagram was the easiest platform where we can do face-to-face conversations All that other junk is exactly that junk, garbage, a poop pile.
