Brocock/BRK Brocock Sniper XR Sahara or Commander XR

Does anyone have experience with these two rifles in .22 caliber? I'm trying to decide which is better for the shooting I do. Or maybe there's something better.

Brocock Sniper XR

Brocock Commander XR

I'll spend around 75% of my time with it on my backyard bench (40 to 60 yards, occasionally 85 to 100 yards), and 25% doing pest control and plinking. I'm sorry to say I sold my only Brocock a couple of years ago and I have missed it ever since. Right now I spend most of my time with a .22 Taipan Veteran shortie and .177 Daystate Revere. Both are very accurate. Thanks in advance for your help!

Guys, your posts are incredibly helpful. Thank you so much. I've followed a number of you and gained a lot by reading your posts in the past. It would take me a page to thank all of you individually.

Well, I didn't realize I was looking at the "same gun/different stock." Maybe that explains why I was having difficulty with the "which one" question. I'm leaning toward the Sniper Sahara. The main reason is because I know I like the feel of the Brocock semi-bullpup. I had one in the past (wish I'd kept it) and found it very comfortable and easy to carry and shoot. I love the accuracy of my Veteran, but when I'm away from the bench I feel like I'm carrying a lead pipe.

Nice choice. You do realize the vet shorty weighs 6.5 lbs and the Sahara weighs 7.3 lbs. I myself have an easier w more centralized weight. The Standard Veteran is the about same weight as the Sahara.

I'm starting to think I want something of quality with a more traditional rifle style . A Brocock will be on the top of my list . 30 fpe in .22 will work great for a lot of pests .And my bullpups don't ride the bags all that well . Have fun and congrats !

Thank you! Yes, Sir. I'm aware that the Brocock is heavier than the Veteran. However, I think it will be easier to use a sling on the Brocock. The Veteran seems a little short for that.

Let us know what you end up with. 👍

I ordered one of the 0db tan colored moderators. If I can't hit anything at least maybe I can look cool. 😎
And maybe a sling.

I've had one , 0db , in my cart for a week . Best prices I've found.

I just carry the shorty basically across my chest with my hand on the pistol grip . It's easy to deploy with the safety on or reaching over with my left hand to work the lever. I think a single point sling would work better with a bullpup .

My best rifle style PCP is a Gamo Urban . Looking forward to hearing your review . They come highly recommended.

I think with any gun, once you have a tripod, scope, and accessories, you will be shooting somewhere stationary with the tripod or a trigger stick. Does weight (up to 2 lbs difference) really matter on a PCP?
Just scope it and go walkabout, my little Atomic, capable to 50+ yards on small critters…. Very light and right, though I’m still fit and strong. I don’t like carrying about heavy guns…

The Sniper XR Sahara came in Monday. As you all know, it is a very nice rifle, and good looking. I splurged a little and ordered the sand colored moderator to go with it. I put an Athlon Helos BTR 2-12x42 and cleaned the barrel. The weight with scope is 9 pd, 12.5 oz.

We had strong winds with gusts here today, but I just had to get it out on the bench. I'm by no means a great shot, but was impressed with the rifle's out-of-the box accuracy. I was shooting groups at around the 3/8" to 5/8" at 40 yards with the FX 18s. Recently I hug a steel target in the woods behind our home at 85 yards. I was able to hit the 3" center the majority of the time...75%? I'm very happy so far with the accuracy.

I had another Brocock semi-bullpup in the past. I really like the design of these rifles. To me, this one balances well and shoulders comfortably. I like the adjustable cheek rest and adjustable butt plate. I think these make a rifle easier to hold the same way shot-after-shot and session-after-session.

The trigger on this is interesting. I don't have a way to measure the pull, but it seems heavy to me out-of-the-box. The manual says it's adjustable, so I plan to lighten it a little.

Bottom line--this is a great gun! Thanks for all your help and encouragement!

Both are solid choices - I took my cmdr xr out yesterday and knocked over 42 field targets 9-60 yards in a row from my sticks. Ohhh and so quiet!

Hello @GunshipGuy

I have owned the Commander XR and wish that I never sold it, but with that said, it was one of the most accurate and easy shooting PCP rifles that I have ever owned. And I have owned all of the "big name" rifles.

I currently own the Brocock Sniper XR in 22cal and it has turned out to be the most accurate. I was not sure about the "configuration" of the Sniper but now with over 4,000 pellets down the barrel I absolutely love this rifle. I do 99% benchrest target shooting with the Sniper but have done a bit of Squirrel hunting with it also. I am sure you will enjoy either of the two.

Ohhh you could try and tempt me to return it 😎 but I concur with your summation!

@PumaCarl, glad you like your Sniper XR. My gun averaged 850 fps with the 18.13 grain and 870 with the 15.89 grain. I didn't see much difference in accuracy during my first couple of shooting sessions. I'll probably leave mine at the factory setting, at least for now. I have a bunch of the lighter pellets. I'm with you. Great gun!

GunshipGuy, today we tried out some different moderators on the gun, which is the same as yours but turned up to 31fpe, and has the Odb 110c (sand colored) moderator, the short one. It ended up being the quietest one on the gun too. The other moderators were all oversized so not has effective. From loudest to quietest; STO Levitas high flow .30, DonnyFL Ronin .30, DonnyFL Tatsu .25, DonnyFL Tanto .25, 0db 110c. The Tanto was really close and if it would have been an early .22 model I would think it would have been quieter, but I don't have one of those, and the 0db won the day. I am really imressed with the performance to size ratio of the 0db. There will be another, exact same gun, showing up next week (they're multiplying) with a 0db 170 sized moderator, and I will be super stoked to compare the two against each other. I will post if there is a notable difference.

@PumaCarl, thanks for the informative post!

I shot my rifle with and without the 0db110c. I was impressed with how much difference it made. It turned a rather loud gun into something that works well in the backyard. I have a little Tatsu .22. I'll try that and see how it works. For the size, I'm surprised at how effective it is on a couple of other rifles I have.

I look forward to forward to your post on the 0db170. Will that next rifle be for you?

Anyone tried the hammer spring replacement on the brocock ghost hp ? Can you use the white or blue for a .25 caliber or is it specifically for .177 and .22? I ordered a set and they should be coming soon. I just got the ghost, very powerful compared to my brocock sniper magnum.
Wrong place to post this but you can use any spring the lighter the spring the lower the power
