Finished NOTOS

Finished Tuning/ Modding my notos. The goal is to get most power and most shot counts (Efficiency!) out of the factory air tube. Did I mention I hate plastic parts on any of my air rifles! So I removed the factory plastic rail and used a 11mm dovetail to picatinny rail adapter instead. The adapter looks pretty similar to the one on my Brocock sniper XR but shorter. For the power section I removed the factory valve poppet and used an after market delrin valve poppet. I also ordered the last available plenum / regulator gauge block from Canada. Tuned and smoothed out the trigger unit, Now it's putting out 28 shots at 21 FPE with JSB 15.89 GR (785fps average). Man this thing is a tack driver!

Very Nice!

Very Nice work! Now Yours is truly in a pistol form!
seems like you either have to get a CO2 gun, not sure I'd like that after years of 22lr and PCP.. or you need $1000+ for a huben gk1, tequila gun, evinix viper and possibly the end of this year a semi auto pistol from hatsan for around $500.. other than that it is extremely long pistols.. the notos was a good shooting gun, but with pistol grips and at 22 inches long I had to rest the air tube on something.
oh and well if you like the notos and want one shortened, I can easily do that.. just PM me.. I only do airgun machine work as a hobby, disabled and retired and it's nice to go to the shop for some fun..
I'm trying to get a shorter air tube.. hopefully I can this week get it ordered and shipped.. then I'll have to post another picture of it shorter.. probably around 14".. I'm not comfortable machining the air tube but if I could get someone who is comfortable and can pressure test it, I'd rather end up with a 12" gun.. like another thread on here.. poor man's attaman ap16 compact pistol. I'm glad I was able to get it shortened because it was not getting any love or shooting sitting in the closet and I didn't care for it with a stock.. could just have been me, but if you want a pistol the length was not attractive to me and well I sort of dispised it with a stock, since I wanted a pistol.. I originally thought it had the moderator screwed on with locktite like the Diana bandit.. but no it's molded over the barrel and just to make sure a couple of snap ring around the barrel inside the shroud plastic mold.. so it only comes off by either cutting and recrown or turning it off or busting it off and then hopefully you didn't ruin the barrel.. lathe is the best option..

so a delrin or peek poppet valve pin will give more power?
stock air tube, stock poppet valve pin, untouched regulator, opened ports and making sure that all the o-rings are not damaged.. with only the hammer spring tension adjustments, i can get 19 shots at 27.6fpe and 25gr pellets or 27shots at 23.7fpe with the jsb 15.89gr. i also expanded the barrel port into an oval shape and angled it diagonally towards the seated pellet.

The delrin valve pin is lighter than stock therefore it'll get knocked open quicker. I also polished the valve pin surface. Port size remained the same though. one thing on mine is different than stock notos is that gauge block it does add a little bit of plenum volume. Mine is sending out jsb 15.89 gr at 785 which is 21.75 fpe. Extreme spread is 3-4 fps max across 28 shots.

@markhooper What’s the diameter on the moderator that you used ? Looks great as a pistol !
I don't remember.. longgundallis designed and had it made for me. it fits inside the shroud and the moderator section is 4" long and overlaps the barrel 1" tight fit.. set screw in the top rail with a recess in the moderator to hold it in and it vents inside the shroud tube..
it's quieter than factory which surprised me since the barrel is 4" shorter.
