I have a conundrum on PCP value?

When it breaks, just get another one.
That might be easy for you in USA, but for us in SA and other countries it is a different story. To buy a equivalent of $500 pcp here is the same expense in relation for you to buy a $2500 - $3000 pcp in USA. I would not mind having the same cost relative to income as you do but it is what it is.

CONUNDRUM , been down that road before
my avatar is a SPA P-15 in 25 cal, one of my early buys, it was a piece of crap that could not hit the broad side of a barn, well I got a LW barrel for it and an double sized plenum blood sweat and a few tears, it is now one sweetheart of a shooter, that I spent enough money on, that could have gotten me a standard Veteran. I still own and shoot it, but I don't shoot it that much because it is a 54ft/lb 25 cal, most of my shooting is from a 20 ft/lb 22 cal.
I have a friend that called dibbs if I ever sell it
I still don't like the Notos or SPA made Mrodair Varmint I own, I don't like their triggers,,, not my cup of tea,, but I have no problem with others that like playing with them, but I do like to point out their short comings to the newbies,,, am I being too snobbish? Ya I am a little,
Took work to make my two Zbroia better guns, they are/were diamonds in the rough state, but I am now pleased with them, my HW44 and 110 are just good to go out of the box, but I did carbine-ize my HW44,,, having fun,,, life is exploring your own path,,, I got more guns than I NEED,,, no they are not for sale.
Cheap bedliner paint wearing off, I kind of like the weathered look and they have a better trigger than the Notos.
I have adapted and modified,,, conundrum gone,,, cheers

You said it yourself when describing the sole (soul) of your Harley. The feel of, melding with & Smooth accuracy of an upper tier gun has to be experienced to understand. I learned to become a practiced & accurate shooter going through my 6 or 7 lower priced guns. They did the job alright but moving to more quality equipment makes it seem almost effortless & feels more an extension of me than the less expensive guns I learned to be proficient with. I got rid of ALL my lower tier stuff after feeling what a better made gun is all about.

About a few years ago (maybe three?) I purchased an Umarex Origin, a Benji Cayden and an Air Arms S510 TC (second hand), all in .22 with similar performance. The Origin gave me many fits, mostly in sorting out POI shifts and the materials left some to be desired but it could shoot. The Cayden was a great all around rifle, but the fit/finish wasn't top notch and while the action was flawless in operation it could have been polished up a little. The S510 fit/finish is stunning and the action is smooth as can be, for these reasons it will never be a true "field gun".

This is as plain as I can explain inexpensive, mid tier and top tier.

Assembled in Country of choice doesn't mean it is built in said Country either......
Again buy what you like, I fail to see how the above relates to the OP? You like the Chinese stuff and feel its as good? Then whats the beef? Use them and be happy. I like my BRKs, am happy, and don’t give a hoot what others might or might not shoot…

Current high end iPhones are made in China.

Where they are made does not bother me it's the hypocrisy of those writing posts here, "I only buy Murician!" on their iPhones, Samsungs, etc. If you aren't posting that on a Liberty Phone, I dont want to hear it.
I see your point but it’s more about choice. I’m typing on my iPad because it’s the best thing for what I like to do. Doesn’t matter where it’s made. If my iPhone or iPad was a work in progress like most chinaguns, I wouldn’t buy them. China has the capabilities to produce a top tier gun, but it will have a top tier price. The hypocrisy that aggravates you would then fade but everyone’s wallet would be lighter. It wouldn’t have mattered where my Snowpeak was made. Even if it was made in Germany, it would still be junk. But it wasn’t.

You guys are all great and gave me a lot to think about and a few laughs along the way......I'm in a position to purchase whatever I want however, I'm not one to let anyone "skin me" because they can.
I own high end springers and the build quality can be readily seen and appreciated and shoot very well. A TX200 is the last one I need to complete the high standard of excellence.

PCP's are a different animal, anything that can hold extreme pressures as all seem to have can't be built with garbage subpar materials. I only own two PCPs, my favorite pigeon slayer is my cheapo PP750. The other one I own is another cheapo JTS Airacuda Standard which is a dream to shoot as well. Like some have mentioned, I need to shoot the best PCPs and see for myself; Easier said than done as no one around here are into airguns. They will all leak sooner or later no matter the brand or price tag. TRUTH!

I'm not apposed to laying out the cash, what I'm apposed to is being "skinned" on marketing BS, warranties and parts that are nonexistent. LOL

I've been a Harley Davidson fan most of my life, always had one in my stable along side a few "metric" bikes as well.......Some folks claim owning a Harley is a lifestyle? For me, Harley has a sole that most can't comprehend. The wind blows thru my hair on all my bikes but, the Harley's always make me grin from ear to ear every single time I hit the road!

Lothar Walther barrels are the ticket? From my understanding, FX are flimsy barrels but easiest to turn into any other FX platform......Daystate are Pretty......Brocock has peaked my interest......All three have there happy followers and are a dream to shoot.

I'm not one to bash anyone's choice, we're all different and what works for some won't work for others. Thanks to all who commented and if you have more to add, I'll be reading!

My CONUNDRUM is still real! HaHaHa

Blessings,
Gary
Well if you’re a Harley guy then you have almost certainly been skinned. But think about it. It’s worth it because they are what you like. Airguns are no different. If you’re worried about being skinned, wrong hobby. None of these toys are worth what we pay for them. Even the junkers.

Harley's no longer hold their value like they used too......Too many well built motorcycles today are taking up sales. Also, we boomers are the only one's buying cruisers and touring bikes. Not many boomers left purchasing motorcycles. The kids want Sport Tour or Adventure Tour bikes....

I'm staying with Harley even though 100% of these bikes are no longer made in Milwaukee.

Glances at the Ninja sitting in the driveway, then decides to get back on topic...

You can always buy a cheaper one and then build it into what you want. That's what I usually do. "Quality of build" in airguns isn't what it is in vehicles and the "prestige of ownership" isn't as great. If it doesn't shoot (or ride) well, then it isn't interesting until it's made to do so.

Cheers,

J~

It all comes down to the overall user experience which starts from purchasing, receiving, using and after sales parts, warranty and service. Is there someone I can speak with? Most low end stuff dealers don’t stand behind their products. My snap on ratchet cost a $120. My snap on guy visits every week. Service is provided. Nobody gives a squat about Gearwrench.

I think a big thing people overlook is due dilligence. Doing your homework. You don't always get what you pay for. More so with some brands than others. Hatsan is probably the most expensive brand I can think of with the worst quality.

Even brands and models that are touted as, spoken of, fitting the bill appreance and spec-wise as being "high quality" will unltimately fall short if there are unresolved issues within the manufacturer, or possibly the retailer.

Personally, my favorite gun out of my lot is an FX, but it is quite a few years old now. A mk1, gen 3 Crown. In my opinion, and experience, one of the last TRULY high quality guns they sold. Seemed much after the mfg date, their quality overall started to decline, and by multiple sources, appears to still be down.

I stripped mine down upon recieveing it, and that thing was as flawless as you can get, front to back, side to side. Inside and out. Very nice finish on it, and also very durable. Seriously doubt I'll ever part with it.

That said, there are tons of high end guns I have not owned. But if you read into it enough, long enough, you will be able to tell which ones have the least issues, are liked the most, perform exceptionally, are built correctly, ect.

In my opinion, if you can float the bill, it is absolutely worth it to buy a TRULY high quality gun.

lol I’d rather make my own steak but the point is made.
Same here, but it has been a long time since I could find a steak worth buying to grill at home at a price I'm willing to pay. I do know two places that have good looking beef in limited quantities, but 32 a pound is too much. Literally going on near two decades since I've had an actual top steak, I get bye on specials now and then from harris teeter's "premium" stuff which at least has no additives/water/preservatives in it. For several years I'd splurge 3 or 4 times a month and get one at a hole in the wall gas station/butcher/home grown vegatable place, then one day the big equipment showed up. A few months later they re-opened, big gas station, meat department 3 times the size, vegetables department 5 times the size, lots of stuff added, probably 10 times more square footage, and prices doubled/quality went down, and their business is thriving. Lost me as a customer, went bye just a couple months ago since I was in the area, prices near 50% higher than the "premium stuff" at harris teeter, 27 dollar/lb ribeye and they did not look any better than standard fare at a food lion. Boggled my mind how crowded they were, still living of their old reputation. People are stupid.
