Tuning Barrel bender tool

Lots of different designs. Here is my bender and spring tool.

Go get a big eyebolt and some scrap wood and you are in! There is a piece of leather in the eye.

I had the opposite problem in my R1 after accidentally letting go of it and when it slammed shut the barrel bent upward a little bit. A C clamp andi a few blocks of wood should do the trick. Check out this picture from Tom Gaylord. This jig arrangement forces the bend right up the breech block for this problem. You could rotate the gun 180° to bend it upwards some to correct droop.

I picked this up yesterday with intentions of modifying it to fit a barrel. It’s used it the skate sharpening business.

I sharpened a few skates in my day. Sometimes the blades were bent, you couldn’t sharpen a bent blade, needless to say I straightened 100’s of blades. Even though there were gadgets like this for straightening. I used to put the blade on the corner of my machine and used my body weight to straighten. When I saw your posts, using trees hammers and vices, it was déjà vu.
‘This contraption is still on the market for $1000. I picked this up when my son bought out a shop. This was thrown in. Ironically, this post came out 2 days after I found this. I have 2 barrels to bend.
I’m going to scrap this idea and use one of your ideas. Thanks for posting. Crow
