Im shooting groundhogs at <50yrds with fx impact m3 in .30. Looking for the right slug. I know shot placement is key, and do headshots. I take raccoons pretty easy with headshots using fx hybrids. Been thinking to keep using the hybrids or maybe try javelins. What are others using in similar conditions?

N/A 30 cal Slug recommendation

give NSA slugs a shot, I had good luck shooting them with my 30 cal crown. I personally shoot 43.8gn, sub MOA group. 150BAR on reg, 600mm barrel 900fps.
I got box of each gn from them, tried them all and settled on 43.8, 47gn and 55 also shoot well, but I need allot more reg pressure to get them above 850FPS and that lowers my shot count on the bottle.

I am very curious why you want a slug? A 44gr pellet inside of 50 yards is going to kill an animal way larger than a groundhog and way easier to be accurate than a slug.

If hybrids are shooting accurate and consistent for you dont change unless you want to see if you can better their performance in the accuracy and consistency department with a different slug. You are already way over the power needed to cleanly kill Ghogs at 100 yds with head shots. So the only reason to switch up would be to try and better accuracy and consistency. For reference on power I have killed rock chucks out to 100 yds with head shots using a .25 shooting JSB 25.4 gr. Kings at 860 fps @ the muzzle. Thats about 40 fpe @ the muzzle.

I find slugs more consistent and I like the extra energy shooting 65gn slugs around 950. I like em extra dead.

Hybrids can be purchased direct from the manufacturer for a lot less money without the rebrand. $70 for 500 with free shipping.

My .30 Rattler 65g AVS FBHP slugs @ 995FPS makes ground squirrels into flying squirrels as well

I've found the hybrids are the only slugs my M3 likes mines also .30 cal. The gun is stock except for the pellet probe. 970 fps is the preferred speed.

thanks for all the replies. the hybrids do shoot pretty good. still fine tuning but usually around 1/2 inch at 50yrds. i'll give some of the others a try for accuracy but sounds like i shouldnt have to worry about clean kills with what i'm using.
