What springer did you shoot today?

Shot this nice Beeman R1. I just got it a few days ago and after a few shots with substantial dieseling I pulled the piston out and cleaned it, cleaned the tube and just put ARH moly on the seal reassembled. I shot it a bunch with cheap pellets then shot for groups over the chrony. I tried FT/Hunting ammo since it’s what I plan to use it for. It seems to like heavy pellets, which is fine. The weather is terrible here in the northeast today but at least shot at 10m indoor off a tripod with a sandbag tossed over it.

Stuck inside with rain today, figured I would work on standing off hand shooting even with the limited range available. Cabela's Outfitter thumbhole 22. Even with heavy long pull stock trigger it still gets it done. I think a lot of it has to with the great balance and fit this rifle has for me in this position.

Nice gun. I’m the biggest sucker for thumbholes.
At least your shooting. I’m painting. I haven’t shot a rifle for so long (record) I’m starting to shake. Not good, finish trim today, no more painting till after Easter. Crow

I've been lurking around the springer site for quite awhile. The forum springers are a fascinating group; fanatical, dedicated, traditional, and convincing that springers can be fun. Its almost a curse to have purchased and sold more than my fair share of good PCPs over the last 2 years repurposing my stable of mistakes. At first buying like Bambi wasn't so bad, what I didn't know didn't hurt me...... for awhile. Accumulating guns, compressors, suppressors, red dots, ammo, cases, targets, bla blah blah......now I know how costly mistakes and storage challenges can be. I learned, the more you know the more you don't know.
After purchasing an HW44 which I love, and gathering springer forum feedback, watching youtube reviews, I was sold on Weihrauch for my first springer. So after almost a year of thinking through buying a springer, and there is no shortage of Wiehrauch options, I finally pulled the trigger yesterday. I put a deposit on a HW30 deluxe in stainless, training wheels😂 . Did I want a 97k or a 50, hell ya, but I have no where within an hour to shoot them. The 30 allows me to plink in my yard, test drive, it's crazy resalable, and if I like it, no doubt I'll be in-line again for mo-power, I'll drive the hour. Thanks springers 👌

Crowski, talking to AOA they upsold me to the wood/stainless. This morning I see your picture below and I think, wow that's cool stainless and black, yikes. I don't see where the 30 is offered in black and stainless. Would you still go synthetic and stainless again if weather wasn't an issue? Where did you find the B&S 30? Weather isn't an issue for me. Thanks.

I bought this 1 years ago brand new. It has been that gun for me over the years...I like it...I don't like it...I'm gonna sell it....set it up different, and like it again. At the current time it's in my favorite configuration with the red dot, and grtIII trigger. I have done zero tuning. It has some twang in the shot cycle, but has consistent fps, and is deadly accurate with cphp ammo. Maybe 1 day I will open it up. Probably not till the spring breaks, or seal needs replacement though.

My 30 isn’t stainless look. There is a nice 30 grey lam. stainless floating around. I like the looks. I like blued steel better.
My buddy had a 97 blue lam stainless. I wanted a blue lam and a stainless, but didn’t want to copy him. so I got 97 .177 blue lam blue steel and the 97 black line stainless .22. That’s how I ended with 2 extra 97’s. A year later a 97 blue lam. stainless .20 cal. came up on the market. Just about broke my finger went I saw it. .20 cal. bLue lam. or friend. I love my 97 .20. That’s how I got the 97 black. I also have a 97 thumbhole in wood. The Blackline is identical shape as the wood thumbholes. I can’t get rid of it because I like it too much. I do prefer wood.
‘A member told me you can stuff the stock with rags or foam to change the feel. Crow

That is all good info. I now know wood is the way to go. I really like the thumb hole best but laminate is not my thing. What scares me, now that I bought one it just can’t be as addicting as PCP, can it? 😂

Woke up to rain this morning and it kept up until very early afternoon. I did manage to get out for a few minutes with my HW 57, the underlever with the pop up breech block. Overall it is not quite as accurate as their break barrels or larger and and heavier underlevers, but a great little lightweight plinking rifle. I have some hanging soda cans set up at about 15 meters and even offhand it's deadly on those, I often get the so chewed up that I cannot tell a hit or a miss.

Cans are the best. I always have 4 - 5 hanging. I don’t change them till I cut them in half. Getting that last hair to make it drop. I have cans hanging at 30 and 47 yds. Crow

I had my HW 35e i .177 out for a little bit, playing with the sight. I had a click adjustable Anschutz diopter on it but swapped it out for an all steel body Anschutz that has windeage adjustable by a couple of push/pull thumbscrews. I went with that sight for two reasons, I have another 35 e in the mail, in .22 cal and an identical sight on order also. I could also install a sunshade tube on this paticular sight , the other would not accept sunshades. The sunshade really helps, today is extremely bright for a change and the sun shines toward my shooting positon . I also have one of the shade tubes to extend my Gehmann diopter back, about 1 1/2 inches(estimate) The factory globe is great as it shades the post front sight quite well also. I learned a long time ago that when the sun is facing you and at an angle, it can affect your point of impact with iron sights, front sight and rear sight will have ne side of sight in shade other is bright.

Plus they are cheap. I have an old sawhorse set up. Four pieces of nylon cord with small metal "S" hooks so I can simply hang a soda can by the pull tab. I find if I use a pointed pellet they zip through the can so fast it hardly moves so wadcutters , domed or hollow point pellets are best. There is definitely something about seeing that can bounce when you hit it.

I was checking the diopter on my 35e this morning, at about 10-15 meters, then switched over to an old swinger I have, 3 target points two about two inches square the other a diamond about 1 1/2 inch on a side. I had them painted orange, and some bushes behind them were green/orange foliage so not the easiest to see, and the range is about 50 yards. Nailed that little diamond using the diopter sights, The front post is wide enough to completely cover that target at that distance so not an easy shot. I hit it about 6 out of ten shots, moderate breeze today. My wife called this shooting my tranqualizer.

What is this springer site/forum you mention? I am not familiar with one that is paticular to springers.

A guy about a week or so ago asked you how many guns you have around the house. From your response I did the math and you have to be over 40 guns. What's just as wild to me is how many scopes you must have purchased. I feel better about my spending now! 👍

Its interesting how these monsters got to target when I shot off-hand, but off-bipod it went oven.

This norica is pretty quiet with that supressor. I really like that gun!
