Crosman Another money pit. My crosman 3622.

So crosman just had to come out with another Lego gun for us poor bastards who can't leave well enough alone.

I got home from work to find my new shiny toy. It was completely empty of air, so I fired up the compressor and filled it up to 2000 psi. I didn’t even bother with the stock breech. I took the gun apart and mounted the knock off crosman polymer breech. Cleaned the barrel good, and got out the old chrony and went to work.

Shooting 14.3s around 650 to start, and by shot 10 had climbed to the 690-700 range, stayed there til shot 25 where I stopped because the report was getting a little sharp. Not loud at the beginning, but once the air was dropping, it got snappy.

Filled it back to about 1800 psi, mounted my Sniper 3-9x32 and zeroed at my 25 foot basement range distance. Hole in hole... so I got a good barrel.

Here she is with the breech kit and scope.

Now I moved on to the stock. I have 4 sporter style K98 Sako mauser stocks I got off ebay on an auction. They are semi finished, so plenty of meat to play with. Always loved the lines of those stocks, remind me of the daystate Huntsman stocks with the rollover comb.

I did just a bit of inletting to fit the trigger, and used a 3/4" drum sander to open up the barrel channel so the air tube would drop in. The bolt handle lines up damn near perfect with the mauser stock notch once I inlet the trigger channel just a little more, it will drop right in to the notch.

I had planned to mount my multi shot breech to this action, but im liking the slim look of the rifle right now.

Here she is with the scope back on it.

Only issue I see with this stock, is it will need some bedding done and make the trigger guard/magwell cover. Easy enough I guess, just going to use plate steel and cut it out and weld the guard to it and paint or have it powder coated.

The finish of the stock has some bad water damage that I'm not sure of how to remove. I've heard oxalic acid will lift the stains, but im worried it could eat the wood. I doubt they'll sand out. I could give it more soaking/water stains and then stain it and make it look like salted maple. Dunno.

I would like to keep this a wood finished gun and not have to paint it, so if someone knows how to fix that, let me know.

Also, I know some people will get bent over the fact this is a $120 gun, and it's pointless to mod etc... I welcome that input. I am a tinkerer at heart, so I see opportunity here vs a waste of my time/money.

Use a 50 to 50 solution of white vinegar and water. Wet a cloth and let sit 10 to 15 minutes then lightly scrub in the direction of the grain.

Cleaning vinegar is much stronger......The issues with using other acids are they must be properly neutralized before staining or clear coats. Mineral oils or mayonnaise will leave an unwanted residue.
So do you think this deep stain would come out? I have a gallon of fresh white vinegar I just bought.

Absolutely, make sure the stock is completely dry before sanding.....75 to 80% will be removed by sanding alone.

I'd get most of it out first with the vinegar, let dry for a few weeks then sand it.
Thank you! I guess it goes without saying I should trust your knowledge with a username like that!

Well my multi shot breech showed up and I bought an Mrod barrel from a member here. This is the stock 21" 3622 barrel, so I can't use it since no internal breech o-ring, but this gives you the visual of how it'll look with the raised breech.

Now I must make an air stripper and shroud in 3/4" OD to match the air tube. 3D print some baffles, and should have a mouse fart quite, multi shot 18 fpe gun with a great trigger and nice furniture. Oh, it'll also be under 6 lbs scoped too. Has just enough weight in the stock to shoulder nicely.

So let's see how much I'm into this rig.

3622: $120 with discount code
Breech: $105
Stock: $40
Mrod barrel: $50
Mrod trigger: $60

Total so far: $375

Shroud will run me about $35 to make, and probably another $25-$30 or so on sand paper, different hammer spring, and better breech screw.

Yep, another money pit lol. It'll be worth it to me though, I already feel attached to it since I constantly miss my old discovery rifles.
