Portable Shooting Bench

I have shot from many platforms over the decades blasting away with mostly Firearms. At the range, mostly very solid Concrete Benches and Benches made of Steel, however I do not like the Steel they can become resonate and vibrate too much. I have shot over Pickup Hoods, Branches, Logs you name it. I built a semi-portable shooting bench many moons ago, its seen better days. I have been shooting Pump Pellet Rifles for sometime but, never really needed a portable rest until I got into the PCP arena and wanted precise results.

So, wanting to replace the old relic that had seen-better-days, I decided to build a Portable Shooting Bench. One that was solid, stable and did not require a Hand-Truck to move it from the Pickup to the shooting location. I wanted folding legs and a bench that was large enough to clutter it's top. This specimen is a bit on the husky side but, that is ok because it is very solid and stable.

I had some flat lumber lying around the garage and found a Portable Sawhorse Online with adjustable legs and that folded up into a neat package. I still have some final work, like trim, an oval hole-handle for carrying and some stain for the wood. I took it out the other day to try it out and do a little Photo-Shoot. I was just what I needed.

Oh! The Charging-Tank... does not remain there, only for the photo-effect.

Enjoy,

Don

Really nice work, you have wonderful skills!

Really nice work, you have wonderful skills!

Thanks for dropping by and your remarks.

I have my Father to thank for the skills, He taught me much... we did a great deal of home remodeling and building while I was growing up. It sure pays off when something needs attention at the home or I require a special this-or-that for one of my Hobbies.

Today I applied a light stain oil, then a couple of coats of wax, its getting closer to completion.

Regards,

Don

Thankyou , what is the name /model of the folding horse? Welcome to the Best AGN !

Nice bench! Should provide hours of shooting enjoyment. The only thing that I would change is adding a cushion, something like this. I have very little padding, need all the help I can get.

Oh! that Chair, I neglected to bring along the cushion for the Photo-Op. At my age, I need all the cushion I can get.

Thanks for stopping by.

Nice job. I was just looking at collapsible saw horses today on Acme Tools.
And by the way, that’s a beautiful Marauder.

Edit: If the ground was ever mushy it would be easy to take a three or four foot long 2x6 and with a spade bit drill halfway through to create a pocket for the legs to sit in, thereby making a more stable platform.

Thanks for stopping by and your remarks: I agree, the Pellet rifle Furniture looks as good as some of my Powder-Burners.

ACME Tools shows the Workhorse at 49.++ a good price.

I have never liked shooting sticks without some Furniture on them. The ones I shot in the Navy were all finished off with Furniture.

Ah... if the ground were muddy... I would not be out shooting in the country. But, large pads would certainly provide additional capability against soft soil.

Yes... using old lumber is the way to go, keeps the price down and the recycling mindset going on.

I noticed the vegetation in the background, I have seen landscapes like that before, during my time in the US Navy. I see your from Guam, Hmmm.... we tied up at the piers near Agana Naval Base a number of times taking on provisions. I remember the Old Asiatic Sailors referring to Guam as the Rock. Plenty of rocks between the land and the Pacific. The Chamorro people, they came out to greet us when we tied up and told us how much they appreciated the US Military. That was refreshing.

Good Show,

Don
