I was actually asking for someone who isn't guessing. I have no idea but if the barrel isn't choked there is a good chance some weight and diameter of slug out there works.

Group is 5 shots @ 40 yards.. ( thats my backyard range limit )

btw it shoots the Zan 23gr .218 / 5.53 almost that good too, groups open up just a tick..

Sorry missed the speed question... set up on FX 18.13 @ 990fps, I never ran the Zans over the chrony.. I can once the weather gets back to normal and get back to you, but you at least have a reference with the pellet speeds

Thanks for doing that! So from what i've read the 550 is a CZ rifled and the 700 is LW poly?.. Not sure as I don't have one. (yet) Ordered....
But is yours the CZ and un-choked 550mm then?
I really wish Taipan was a little more precise with their specs online. They make it look like the Standard vet II is also a 300 bar rifle but it says 250 on the block and I guess tube as well. Another thing I've read is the anti double feed is missing from the Vet #1.
How long would it take someone at Taipan to clear up some of these questions on their website? 5 minutes? lol
Either way what a nice looking and shooting rifle it appears to be. EDIT: I never had issues with the Zans in the Huben leading, how's the bore after tossing a bunch down range in the Taipan? (or maybe you don't know because this was the first time with the Zans?)

You are correct about the 250 bar on the block, plain as day, Now Tony says it is 300, I personally fill to 250

I have experienced the same as you with the Zan's in my Huben.
As far as the Taipan with the Zan's I can't give you a 100% answer..
reason being I primarily shoot the FX 18.13gr pellets in it, I will shoot about 100 rds of the Zan's on average per week, but I always follow up with the pellets, which would skew my findings .

I shoot A LOT, average about 1500-2000 rds a week through various guns.
I will make a concentrated effort to have a look see nxt time I shoot a couple 100 slugs and let you know.

The gun is Very accurate both with pellets and these particular slugs, I have tried Many other slugs and the groups are nowhere near as good.

I like to keep the fill pressure to what he gun says too.. Unless I know it's a mistake and hopefully Taipan will email me back as I sent that question to them for clarification. I do double feed on occasion because I'm more ADD that OCD.. Together we're insane I'm pretty sure.. I have a ton of the FX 18.13's so that's good to hear and I've had really good luck with H&N everything this last couple of years in .22 and .25. They have a similar coating or whatever it is and aren't big on leading either. I may try a tin of those to see how they fly. You shoot in one week what I get done in 3 months but I have to take range trips and it usually involves more than just me so I have to move at other peoples pace. (wife) I'll walk slow just to get her out so she can out shoot me and mock me. It's a lot of fun and since I self identify as a marksman instead of a lousy shot, it's passes through one ear and out the other. Serenity now.

So I guess you're thinking slugs over 30 grains? I'm sure you saw what @bfloyd1095 was doing with 20 gr Zans.. I know it's not an Impact so I wasn't going to try anything heavier than around that weight myself. What numbers were you getting with the Vet (1)?

I plan on slugging it but it's starting to look like .218's. I have to go get another dowel small enough as it's been a while since I slugged anything smaller a .25. Stephen makes really good ammo. His .254's although tight in the mag, seemed to do really well in the Huben and his .3063's are fantastic at least out to 80 with the Vulcan..

I went and found it. My 22 barrel slugged at .2213 as my friend Steve read it on a micrometer. We had similar results with Steve's Huben 25 and my V3 30 cal. My guess is get the 22 taipan 2 to push a .2213 28-30g slug at 950-975 FPS and you will find your ideal projectile. But somewhere between 900-980 FPS will be the tune, only experimenting will solve that.

Wow .2213 is pretty fat... 4 airguns. I see he does have them in stock as well in lower weights. I think I need some more .3063's so I may order some from him this coming week. Thanks for sharing.
