Can anyone tell me what this grub screw does? Mine is currently loose; should it be tight? I searched the forums without finding anything.
Thanks,

This grub screw is present on many air rifles. It is mearly a cover for the drilling the manufacturer made into the solid block to allow the passage of air from the valve to the ports in the barrel. It should have a thread locker on it as it never needs to be removed - well almost never. I pulled it on my Crown once to clear a major misloading jam I caused by not completely seating the barrel liner in the barrel housing. Can anyone tell me what this grub screw does? So probably best not to tighten it down onto the transfer port. This grub screw is present on many air rifles. Yep, not a good idea. You could screw up the edges of the brass transfer port hole on the barrel (if you have the dual transfer port barrel end). Also you could raise edges where the grub screw tried to turn into the brass, making it harder to pull the barrel out of the rifle. So probably best not to tighten it down onto the transfer port.
The two screws on the sides is for supporting the barrel / transfer port.My suggestion, if gun is degassed, uncocked, remove screw (it's loose anyway) & if you see top of Barrel at bottom of screw hole you'll know it's for securing barrel in place.
Raised edges would tear up the o-rings on removal of the barrel, so not a good thing in many ways.Yep, not a good idea.
