O-ring removal

Hello,

I have a FX Cyclone circa 2007. The o-ring needs replace in the air tube and it seems to have crystallized and I’m having a difficult time getting it out. I’ve tried using dental picks, but it’s not working to well. Is there a solvent I could use to soften up the o-ring for an easy and complete removal?
Thank you for your advice,

Wayne

Some vaseline and let it sit a few days.

When rubber o-rings were made from actual plant "milk", Vaseline worked fine but now, it's all synthetic and it just doesn't work like it used to.

I use the high VOC Goo-Gone to remove residue and a strong acid (VERY carefully applied) to attack the rubber with whole o-rings.

Never considered this. Vaseline works well when rebuilding old co2 guns.

First thank you for responding to my o-ring question.
I can give an update now. I adjusted the angle of the dental pick which enabled me to extract the o-ring. I still see some rubber residue where the o-ring was seated. I think I’ll use a very small amount of Goo Gone to clean out the area and follow up with some Gun Scrubber to make sure no oily film is present to make sure it’s completely dry and cleaned. I am wondering if I should apply a thin layer of Ballistol where the o-ring goes. Your thoughts?

Balistol can't hurt any.
