HW/Weihrauch Best pellet for Hw 97kt .22 cal

Field Target Trophy 14.66gr in either 5.53, 5.54, or 5.55. Mine likes the 5.54 but you'll have to test.

Another vote for the 5.54's. My HW50 really likes them. The good news is no matter what head size you purchase, they will all be accurate enough for soup cans.

Every 22 Weihrauch I've owned and or tuned has had the best accuracy and power with these pellets. Likewise the 5.54s seemed to be the most liked of the three sizes.

RWS pellets also have stiff skirts as well so they do pretty well too sometimes. My 22 HW50 did almost as well as the FTTs with RWS Super hollow points in both accuracy and power. It also did surprisingly well with cheap Hobby wadcutters. My best 25 yard group with that rifle was with Hobbies. It was under half inch edge to edge. All the RWS pellets are old designs so they didn't do well for me past 30 yards.

None of the 22 Weihrauchs I've played with had good accuracy or power with any JSB lead pellets. Which is odd because my 177 Weihrauchs LOVE them. Lead JSBs in general have much thinner and softer skirts than others so maybe thats the difference.

My 22 cal test sample isn't very large. It consist of,
2- R1s
1- Hw97
2- Hw95s
2- Hw50s
1- Hw30
but the results were consistent. Still YMMV

The Weihrauch barrels in .22 have been oversized for 40 years.

IF it shoots well at all it will likely be with the largest pellets you can find. Which are usually the FTT that guys have recommended here.

Oversized bore or not, OP isn't going to find a more accurate or better shooting .22 currently on the market. With the right pellet that gun will be consistently 3/4" at 50yds with frequent groups under MOA.

I stocked up on the Eley Wasp in the blue tin years ago. Every HW .22 that I’ve owned shoots them very well.

I did too. They are 5.5mm. And scarce. The new version is reportedly not as good. I save mine to shoot in old BSA's

I have the same springer, what works best for it=AA 13.42 and JSB Exact 15.89gr.

JSB Exact 5.52

Shoot those in my HW77k.

Here a 5 shot group at 25 meters indoors.

The HW77 is technical the same as a HW97k.

I always shoot the JSB's 5.52 in al mine .22 air Guns.
Can't say that there is a better pellet. Tried multiple, but the never do as good as the JSB's

Oh, I use them in my HW77k which is 16Joule and in my HW77k which is 20Joule.
Bothe with the same results.
