Narrow this down for me.

Well here’s what the OP might find interesting. My M3 .22 only shot them truly great at 950-960fps. It shot them good at times at other speeds but after a twist rate change I got to see what they were really capable of. You will need Daystate guys to chime in to get you in the right ballpark. Otherwise you have a lot of testing. But since your gun has unlimited tuning, it should be a breeze. Speaking of breeze, if there’s one ounce of wind, don’t test.

My last batches of MRD's were disappointing with general accuracy but a lot of fliers also so your rifle MAY not APPEAR to like them when good batches will be pretty incredible. In general, both slow and fast twist barrels were best above 930. My Red Wolf does best with them at 975 to 980 @ 100 but is fine at closer ranges, going slower. My DW seems best around 950 with a bit more fliers as it goes up or down with both slow and fast twist barrels. I keep mine 940 to 950.

If the wind ever dies down I am going to set up my gun. Planning on setting it up with the JSB 22 Monster and was hoping to get a ball park idea on speed. I’m aware guns are different and barrels but I’m thinking some of the competitive shooters will have a speed where they just seem to fly straight.

Remember, though, you don’t get to pick the pellets your barrel likes. You get told by the gun, and then need to tune accordingly for the best performance once you have good contenders. So don’t waste too much time trying to shove a square peg in a round hole just because you want to shoot a particular pellet.

I agree with Spartan and would add that changing the velocity has not convinced my rifles to like a particular pellet. I think the process is to find a pellet your gun seems to like and then test speed (or tune) to see what it likes best. If you start out at 25 or 30 yards you may want to test at longer range before making a final selection. My P35-22 likes JSB 18s about as well as H&N Baracuda 21s at 30 yards but at 35 the H&N shot better. I'm shooting much less expensive air rifles but I like to stay in the 800-900 fps range.
