FX New to me Wildcat Gen 1 not indexing

I recently purchased a used FX Wildcat Gen 1. Upon receiving it, I unboxed it and tested the cocking and trigger. Owning several Kalibrgun (original and II) and having owned a FX Royale, I am fairly used to cocking and de-cocking PCPs. After successfully cycling the gun twice, the gun no longer fully cocks. It feels like it simply hits a hard-stop just before you get to the point where it feels like the magazine would begin to index.

I have watched Ernest's Masterclass video that shows the re-assembly, and it does look like a finicky gun to correctly align.

The seller has graciously agreed to split the costs to ship it back to Utah Airguns, but before I commit to a giving the Wildcat round trip to Utah, I would like to see if there are any FX experts who could suggest any further troubleshooting steps that would be non-invasive.

Before sending it out to Utah I would check the hammer spring preload adjustment. I think think they are the same as the MK2/3 and if the adjustment is to far forward it will stop the hammer from catching the release (sear?). You can try backing out the little allen screw by removing the adjustment wheel.

Edit: I just reviewed the take down video with ER, and realized the MK1 hammer spring adjuster is totally manual. No need to remove the power adjustment wheel, as there is none! Haha. But I would still try to back out the hammer adjustment first, same issue.

i had a gen-1 in .30 few years back.....great gun (a deer kill'n machine) but did have same problem.
on right side of the action there is a small plate you can remove to access the
mag indexing linkage. if it gets bent where it meets the mag, this can happen.
i ordered a new one from our used to be fxusa..... got new one in and i used it for a pattern
and reshaped the original linkage/finger/what-ever its called and never another problem.
maybe thats your problem, i dont know...but i hope it is. 👍

Thanks for all the input folks.

@WorriedMan - The rifle actually arrived with a magazine in the receiver. I spoke with the seller and he confirmed that it was empty. I cycled the gun twice (seeing it rotate) and now I cannot remove it because the gun won't fully cock. I also have a Cricket II Tactical and the grub screws on the cocking rod have slipped there too. I will examine this on the Wildcat. Thanks!

@MongooseV8 - It appears that there's a larger screw sitting behind the hammer spring which needs to be backed out before I can access the actual HS adjuster. It's tight and would not back out. I *assume* the threading is normal not reversed. Or it may be locktite'd in there. I can see from the condition of the female allen key area that some force has been used on it before. I just need to proceed carefully since I have not made the decision to send it to Utah Airguns yet.

@gendoc - I've had the side plate off already and found that the pin that would engage the indexing arm linkage never gets a chance to hit it. There is a hard-stop in cocking before it has a chance to do anything.

@cahil_2 - I'll take closer look, but I did not see anything that would impede the trigger mechanism.

@tigereye - Ugh, don't say that. ;-)

Again, thanks for your insight into this issue. I will continue to poke at the things that don't require degassing or significant disassembly. I'm suspect of the cocking linkage and its adjustment. I'll post more after I have had some time to test...
