I think a straight out of the box (tuned of course) M3 in .30 or .35 will kill ‘em just as well and fast

That is still a work in progress. Here in Michigan we have hunting regulations that can be muddy sometimes. There is some confusion around our nighttime hunting regulations for airguns. In one part of the regulations it states that airguns are considered firearms for all aspects of regulations that including caliber requirements etc. In recent years they added a caliber restriction at night for .269 and smaller for center-fire firearms. I've had conflicting guidance from our DNR as if that caliber restriction also applies to airguns. If so - this build will be a .25 cal. If not, it will be a .35 cal. I am hoping to have that cleared up this week, but will most likely be using it in the .25 cal format till I can get written clarification.

100% true. All of these accessories just make the hunting experience better. I could take a bone stock FX M3 and put it in my Bog Hog Saddle and just run it that way. Once you try Arca though, it is hard to go back to not using Arca.I think a straight out of the box (tuned of course) M3 in .30 or .35 will kill ‘em just as well and fast

Ok so I called a regional Lieutenant today and got the best version of the interpretation I have gotten so far. If you open the Fur Bearers Digest the way it is written there is the clearest. It uses semi-colons to separate pneumatic vs. rimfire vs. crossbow vs. bow and arrow vs. centerfire. So the interpretation and intent is ANY airgun caliber would be legal.

2.5 Hunting hours, exceptions; prohibited activities. Sec. 2.5 (1) Except for the trapping of animals and as otherwise specified in this section, the hunting hours shall substantially conform to one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset and shall be those starting times and ending times published in the Michigan hunting and trapping guide or in the respective state hunting guide for that animal. (2) In addition to the daylight hunting hours specified in subsection (1) and 3.605, a person traveling afoot at night and in possession of only a bow and arrow, a crossbow, a pneumatic gun, a rimfire firearm .22 caliber or smaller, a centerfire rifle or centerfire pistol .269 caliber or smaller, or shotgun with loads other than buckshot larger than number 3, slug or cut shell, unless otherwise provided by law, may take within their specified open seasons raccoon, opossum, coyote, and fox. However, subject to MCL 324.43510, (2) and (3), a person hunting these species during the nighttime hunting hours shall not possess a loaded firearm, a cocked crossbow, or bow with a nocked arrow unless one or more of the following conditions apply: (a) The individual is hunting with the aid of dogs and is at the point of kill. (b) The individual is hunting with the aid of game call or predator call.
I go to the UP as I have a place 12 miles from the border in Wisconsin, so I watch the hunting laws! Coyotes are on the menu!

I am really NOT understanding why it is permitted in the state of MI to Hunt raccoon, opossum, coyote, and fox at Night with a .22 air rifle but during the Day a .35 air Rifle is required?

I called the DNR and spoke to a Lieutenant, and he cleared up my confusion, and he did explain that this is new territory that they are navigating thru.
If I understood correctly, Chris is correct, the only Air Rifle Hunting Caliber restriction is for Deer and a .35 or larger must be used.
During Quiet Time Nov. 10-15 It is not permitted to be in the woods with any Rifle or Caliber above .22
Limited Fire Deer Zone Nov. 15-30 If you Hunt in this Zone you must use a .35 Caliber Air Rifle or larger during these dates.
