TX200 HC or PRO SPORT

Many years ago I was faced with the same decision as you. I went with the HC. But I still would like to pick up a Pro Sport some day. Over the years since, I’ve seen where guys favor the TX over the Pro Sport. Hopefully some of them chime in. But this should probably be in the Traditional Airguns sub forum.

I, too, was faced with this dilemma. So guess how I solved it ? I bought BOTH !! And, all said and done, I still can't tell you which I prefer over the other on any given day. It depends on what day you catch me. The Pro Sport seems to shoulder a little better. The TX is easier to cock. Shooting wise, it's a toss-up. Both are works of art and craftsmanship. I know this doesn't help much. Whichever one you pick, you can't go wrong. You'll have no regrets.

You are not helping me keep money in my account. Can’t you lie just a tiny bit and say you like the TX a little more?

I already have a 97K and a 77K which are more like a TX200 in the cocking arm department, so you know I bought a new prosport and love it.
I know the TX200 are great guns and everybody loves them and all, but TBH They never really caught my eye the way the prosport does, and I wasn't a fan of the ratcheting bear trap and release button, this is just my opinion. I'm sure you'll be very happy with either one, especially in walnut.

I'm not a big fan of the ratcheting bear trap either but the HW97K has to be cocked all or nothing.....My wife doesn't have the strength from start to finish.
I purchased a Diana 48 and she has no problem cocking it because it has a ratcheting bear trap or it cocks like rowing a boat?
I can assume, my wife might be able to cock the TX200?

One can hold the release button if they don't like the noise.....The Prosport sure has clean lines, beautiful rifle.

Well the prosport is pretty hard to cock with the factory spring, way harder than a 97K. I'm sure the TX would be easier but I've never cocked one.
I have tuned my 77K to 10 ftps in the past and I could cock it with one finger, so you could make the 97 easier with the right spring.

I have Prosports in both calibers, .177 has a Vortek kit and 12 lb spring, .22 is stock. I also have a TX200 in .177 and a TX200 HC in .22. The .177 has a full power Vortek kit and the .22 is stock. Full power tune is easier to cock in the TX 200 platform To me it is just a more ergonomic cocking motion. To me there is not much difference in cocking between the regular TX200 and the HC even though the regular gun has more leverage. The regular TX200 feels a lot less handy than HC.

They are all using the same power plant. You have decide if the look and feel of the Provport is more important than the ease of cocking of the TX200. A 12# Prosport is a sweet heart. If I had to have only one full power .22 it would be the TX200 HC. If I had to keep only one of the .177 guns I would keep the 12# Prosport.

I shoot off of a deck rail and a chair so take my review with a grain of salt. I have to rest the rifle on my hip to cock and I try and use two hands to lessen the burden.

I have both rifles and they are tuned to 12 fpe. The TX200 is easier to cock and shoot than the Pro Sport. I usually take three or four rifles to a shooting session. After shooting the Pro Sport for an hour it is time for a break. If I had a bench to rest the rifle on when cocking it would make it a lot easier.
