Do you carry a side arm when hunting with pcp

Constitutional Carry as “recognized“ by the Second Amendment… Our rights don’t “flow” from that “Sacred” Constitution, they are “recognized” by such. God bless our imperfect Founding Fathers and what they gifted us… Our “imperfect union“.🫡🇺🇸 So I might or not be, only to be discovered by whatever threat presents.

Ironically, I was just thinking about this. With the PCPs I only hunt in my backyard. An iguana hunt is on my mind but I would not have a sidearm for that. My regular hunting backup is a Glock 19X if bears or hogs are around and we are on the ground. But recently some coyotes showed up on the security cameras. That and the fact that raccoons may attack if they have rabies (I have seen several in my backyard with that illness in final stages, when they are very slow, etc) made me think of having my G19x next to me during backyard hunting. I just need a nice light and a silencer would be nice too but daaaaamn those are $$$$.
I got attacked by a coon.. was getting wood and thankfully I had broken a axe handle and left it on the wood pile to burn.. it took what seemed like a lot of hits on his head to get him to decide to leave, that and my old cattle dog who promptly put him up a tree.. broad daylight.. so I went in and got the rifle and put him down.. thankful I was just able to keep him from getting me, my dog got bit but thankfully he was up to date on rabies and he had just got a booster..
honestly the meanest animals I have had to deal with is rabies coon.. and possibly no rabies coon..coons are tough but and mean.. thankful for PCP 22 caliber and those timber rattlesnake..177 is plenty for them..

Gentlemen, this thread is still open by the narrowest margin. Mind your P&Q's
thank you, honestly I appreciate all you do to keep the forum running smoothly.. I'm sorry if I said anything that is not ok.. if I did, I would welcome you to pm me and remind me of the rules, I honestly have read them several times but I don't remember them.. also I know that this is a forum for airguns, might be others for other things but I don't know and I have both but very rarely shoot anything besides air guns, so I really appreciate this forum.

This is my new best friend when I go hunting. For emergencies only.

not a airgun, but gorgeous. wish I could get a PCP similar to that.. probably would pay more than I can afford.. but I'm partial to single six and lever guns.. I haven't seen any PCP single action, just CO2.. but if you search mustang lobo.. it's a PCP lever action with the same looks as a Winchester. I shoot both, but pretty much just air guns.. I don't enjoy the loud noise and some recoil.. it's why I am thankful for PCP airguns and this forum.. learn something new each day..
id love to have a attaman ap16 compact, or a huben gk1, or a tequila gun.. but out of my price range.. I did cut down my umarex notos so I can actually shoot off hand.. hopefully get a holster made for it.. I cut the barrel 4" and then I put a moderator inside the shroud.. I don't know what my friend that made it do but it is a lot quieter than the factory moderator and longer barrel and it's more accurate too.. I learned from a old gunsmith how to get a perfect crown with the lathe and a final grind polish with a die grinder on the lathe.. was a fun project that turned out very good. I just couldn't shoot freehand with a 22" long pistol.

That had to be rabies. My understanding is they only attack when cornered. I have only seen videos on the tube about some raccoon attacks but I do not want any of it if I have the choice. It is nuts. But what you wrote about having an axe handle, maybe instead of a pistol I should just get a machete or a good old baseball bat. I doubt I would be able to aim properly while this thing is chewing my leg anyways.

yes it was very close.. lucky to have a 3' axe handle instead of a 18" piece of firewood and it was mid day out in the open, my cattle dog was trying to get it away by pulling it's tail to get it to turn around.. nothing I'd care to do again.. I'm sure it was rabies and thankfully it didn't get me, bit my dog once so I was really worried about him.. 22 PCP and he came out of the tree my dog put him up and he hit the ground dead.. my dog was so mad he went over and gave him a good shake to make sure..
nothing to mess with.. it's a shame this has to happen to any wildlife.
