FX FX Airguns DRS Pro: How Significant is This Really?

Part of the OP's thread asks the question "How Significant is This Really?" I say it's really significant--because it's well likely to catch the attention of Karens and Kevins even more and perk up the ears and moisten the pens of (anti) legislators.🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️
So simply stop fretting and vote em out, or not. Or simply stop complying…🇺🇸🫡

I like the idea of the tank over barrel design, but not the overall rifle. Was telling a buddy a couple years ago they should make them like this to save space and height. It should have a built in shroud/baffles too.

Sadly, as much as I like traditional walnut stocks, this setup looks like a blunderbuss in rifle form. If it had a flintlock style cocking system on the side, I wouldn't be able to tell them apart.

Definitely getting into "is that a firearm?" territory with the looks. If a cop were to walk up on you because a Karen called, they'd almost immediately think it's the real deal and that's no Bueno. It's much easier to talk them down when they see a big bottle or air tube hanging off the action.

Agreed.

My buddy that I shoot with at his house, his neighbor is a local city cop. He's fine with us shooting my almost 60 fpe 25 cal in the yard because it has a big Ole bottle and a nice quiet report.

"It's just a pellet gun, I shoot my crossbow back here." is what he said, and went off to work. I've almost got him on board to shoot them a couple times, but he's of the mindset that airguns are silly.

Lots of people still think they're some kids toy, and I'd like it to stay that way. I'm sure his tone would've been completely different had he seen me out there with this thing. He'd think it's a suppressed 22lr.

Mmmmmmm it appears that FX is wanting some feed back.
I am an FX guy.
This new gun is a nonstarter for me.
First, I am not a competitive shooter so all the bells and whistles for that carry no appeal for me. I could see where others would find them attractive or useful.
Second, how many iterations of the Panthera are we going to see. This is getting to be like watching soap operas. “OH OH OH a new gun from FX!!! Crap just another Panthera in a different dress.
Third, what idiot decided a plenum that looks like a PB magazine was a good idea? FX losing touch with their customer base or are they wanting to bring the zombie hunters into the big tent?
I watched a Dubber video today on the gun. A fill probe?!?!?!?! Really?
I bit on the Panthera and regretted it. It is not a bad gun and I have had no problems with it. But, does it stand head and shoulders over my M3? Enough to warrant dumping close to $2K into a new airgun? No. Not even close.
The OP, god bless him, is doing his job and I cannot fault him for that, but his post sounds like a canned sales pitch.

Sounds like quite a s h i l l to me. Considering 95% of your YT videos are on the FX platform.

This is definitely NOT the innovation us airgunners have been waiting for. At least not the group of arigunners I've been talking to since this first popped over the weekend. Where's the game changer here? Who wants their airgun to be a replica of a pb? Not I. And I definitely do not want my airgun to have a 'magazine' that makes it look even more real.

IMO FX has missed the whole point of airgunning with this release.
Obviously it’s not for you and there’s about 1000 different PCPs out there to choose from what exactly did you want? let me guess an impact m4 why would they come out with an m4 when the m3 is basically perfect fx is a business they are obviously going after a different market with this release drawing in the precision rifle industry too grow the airgun industry it’s a brilliant marketing move that benefits everybody The more money FX makes the more machines they can buy the more employees they can employ and that’s good for keeping up with demand and more employees to tighten up quality control. They want to grow the industry they want too be taken more seriously can’t you see their breaking into the firearms market remember that Iraq veteran special edition grs rifle, his channel viewers are primarily firearms Enthusiast and the fx true ballistics chronograph It can be used on PB’s and airguns And its sold under the FX outdoors branding. And what about the fx panthera I’ve spotted it on a few precision, rifle focused channels this rifle is just part of the line up it’s not gonna take place over their other offerings they still make the crown and dreamline the maverick and wildcat this is a good thing I can’t see anything wrong with this release.

I am seeing some comments about the DRS Pro magazine plenum and the concern that range safety officers won't know what it is and DQ you for moving with a magazine loaded or getting kicked off the shooting range for moving your gun while the magazine is still in. Some of ya are making waaaaay too much about that.

This is my 1920s Remington .35 with what looks to have a removable magazine but it is permanently affixed. There have been generations in my family who have shot this at shooting ranges with range safety officers. The number of times where an RSO had an issue? Zero.

I have Springer airguns in my collection that look just as much like a firearm as my .22LRs so a lot of this conversation is just debate for the sake of it, but safety considerations are always a good conversation to have.

Agreed, but there a people with the "FX makes too much money" attitude. I've heard it first hand.

I had the chance to talk with Johan today at the Shot Show. He is very enthusiastic about the platform and it's potential.
The biggest drawback for me is the Magazine style plenum. It just looks out of place and hokey on a dedicated air rifle. I'm not in favor of trying to look like something it isn't.

The trigger is a major improvement over the Impact.

I really don’t get the problem with the magazine shaped Plenum I’ve seen this observation a few times. Take that magazine plenum out of there. It would look stupid with a hole. Like come on where else they gonna put the damn Plenum

It could have been horizontal and enclosed with in the stock, no large hole machined in the stock.

when you make competition winning Airguns and have guys like Ted and Hein Frommann on board it’s not hard to see why they dominate the industry. It also helps that your rifles look bad ass haha

A rifles a rifle both lethal What about brake barrels you couldn’t tell those apart from a .22 so I don’t see your point There’s so many replica airguns that look like full auto rifles out there. Just go to airgun Depot. Everyone’s nit picking this release it’s so ridiculous

Because your local Karen doesn't go to airgun depot and look at all the new cool guns. They see a big fat air tank on a gun, they think it's a super soaker like little Johnny has.

Not everyone is hip to airguns.

As for nitpicking. If the manufacturer would've knocked this model out of the park, everyone's tone would be different.

If the majority of people are wrong it doesn't make them right. It's going to be an expensive gun, that raises expectations.

The cost of these rifles and the cost per shot of the new slug ammunition has gotten so expensive that it no longer makes sense to me to go that way. If I’m going to pay that much I might as well buy a Kimber Super America or Cooper Jackson Squirrel and shoot Eley Match EPS or Lapua Center X.

I'm happy with what I have and that's fortunate because rising prices make it unlikely to be getting more.
