I would say neither. If you’re going to spend the money get the MCH-6. It produces a much higher quality of air, and you can buy it in 220v, which is what you want. Don’t bother with a 110v model. Contact Nuvair and speak with them, they will explain in more detail.

I have an MCH-6. I think my post was unclear. I was wondering if the Leggero and the MCH- 3 are the same?

The current “Leggero” has an MCH-6 pump unit.
The Coltri MCH-3 and MCH-6 are the pump units. The compressors consist of the frame, motor, filtration system, pump unit, etc.
The main difference between an MCH-3 and MCH-6 pump unit is three stage vs four stage. The MCH-6 is the better pump unit.
Some of the earlier Daystate 110 compressors had MCH-3 pumps. The later ones have MCH-6 pumps.
The Daystate 110 is configured with a lower power 110v motor and a moisture trap tower but no filter tower. If you need to run off a standard household electrical outlet, the Daystate might be a logical choice. It will charge your tanks slower (probably quieter), and I’d buy one if that’s what I needed. However, I have a 220v outlet and my plans were to only use my compressor at that location, so I bought my MCH-6 form Nuvair in their standard paintball configuration. It costs a little more than the Daystate, but it comes with a complete filtration system.
You can order a Coltri MCH-6 with a 110v high current motor, buts it is not a good choice in the USA as it requires an uncommon electrical outlet. Less common than the 220v outlets. If you need a 110v compressor, get the Daystate.

Would the filter tower require additional load, amp draw above 15 amps? Just wondering if this could be the reason Coltri/Nuvair choose a 20 amp circuit and 2 hp motor with the MCH-4 4 110v compressor?

That compressor requires a 20amp 110v outlet. Not the most common, but not all that uncommon in the USA. So it delivers a proportionally faster charge rate, which has nothing to do with the filtration.Would the filter tower require additional load, amp draw above 15 amps? In the USA, 110v circuits are 15amp or 20amp. When you have multiple 110v outlets on a 20amp circuit, they should be 15amp outlets. A single 20amp outlet is used on a dedicated 20amp circuit.
If you want to run off any 110v outlet, get the “Leggaro”. If you have a dedicated 110v, 20amp circuit and want a little higher throughput, that “MCH-4” might be a good choice. If you want the highest throughout and have a dedicated 220v outlet, get a 220v Coltri MCH-6.

Right, I get that, let me try again. I was wondering:
1. If adding a filter tower to a unit, does the load increase?
2. If yes, could that be the reason the Coltri MCH-4 (which is speced simialar to the Daystate 110) is requiring a 20amp circuit (to handle increased load).?
2a. If adding a filter tower (IMO necessary) increases load would this additional load negativeley effect the Daystate 110 (low voltage issues, tripped circuit)?
3. Or does adding a filter tower have zero effect on load? I would think any additional flow resistance would cause additional load?

The flow rate of a compressor is not that high. I guess it’s possible that a filter could add a couple of psi of back pressure, but even that would not be noticeable. The hose, foster fittings, and check valves add more resistance than a proper filter.
The possible reasons there is no filter tower included with the “Leggero”:
1) cost savings
2) less weight
3) less maintenance
4) not really necessary for non-breathing air
The “MCH-4” is using the additional load (20amp) to increase its throughput over that of the 15amp “Leggero”. It has nothing to do with the filter.

The filter could add more of a load of it plugged up but otherwise it wouldn't have really an effect on it

If it’s a 15amp compressor, adding a filter won’t make it exceed 15amp. The blowoff valve will vent and prevent the compressor from exceeding its design load, regardless of any restriction (plugged filter/line or overfilled tank).

I agree, all the information about the units is accurate, although I think 110 is a bad choice if in USA unless you absolutely can not get a 220 socket installed. The 110 15 amp is pretty standard in the USA. If your contractor was the over engineering type, they might be 20 amp. not only does the high amperage of the 110v model strain your electrical system it is not quite enough juice to run the motor efficiently and more importantly effectively. If you call Nuvair and talk to one of their reps, they can explain it better than I can. I already had a 220v socket in my garage, but if I didn’t I would have installed one. It wouldn’t cost a fortune to have an electrician come and install a 220 outlet, and I think it would be all around better in every aspect. Again, I urge you to talk to Nuvair, they aren’t going to try to up-sell you if you call. In fact, Mitch talked me out of a few things I thought would be useful and steered me in a better, more wallet-friendly direction.

About 2 weeks, to my door. There is a test run process, before shipping. Then shipping to your location. Holidays delay it even more. Also, the MCH-6 is a very small part of what Nuvair sells and does.

I have a Leggero. I added the extra filter and bracket assy. Nuvair has the kits. Kinda pricy but the having of dry air it was worth it. It runs great so far,only 2 hrs on it. So we’ll see… Grass
