RAW Rapid RAW BM500X has smaller hammer and narrow hammer cavity

I could understand that hammer weight could be less but I was under the impression that the block would be identical as in some Theoben rapids I have seen.

But when I tried to install the hammer of my RAW HM1000X into BM500X, the hammer didn't go all the way.

I keenly inspected and again inserted BM500X original hammer and found that only reduced dia of hammer could go into BM500X. It appears that this gun is restricted to medium power. It's shooting 18.13 grain JSB pellets at around 930fps.

Didn't remove the regulator yet to see that at what pressure it is set.

I understand that if I use my balanced valve as I have installed in my HM1000X, the power of BM500X may be brought to the level of HM1000X.

It might have valve which I would have to replace and some more things if required to make this gun completely tunable for medium as well as high power.

Many of the early THEOBENS used larger nose hammers, In the early days of RAW making TM's the hammer nose diameter was reduced and the receivers bore hole was smaller too, as were the original HM & BM. * While the actual bore the hammer slides in remains unchanged in size across all models best I've witnessed.
Later guns such as the HMX / TMX went back to the larger nose on there hammers which is heavier BTW.

Yes indeed there is that difference, and in most instances with my own RAW/s & Theobens, they get a custom hammer & valve regardless.

This sizing has been witnessed and honestly not placed a solid when & where the larger size has been applied or not

So looks like that in order to use larger dia of hammer, I can machine out the hole according to my HM1000X so that HM1000X hammer could be inserted!

I hope that material may be removed from the cavity without any issues ?

Don't see why not ??
just crunch some numbers on space to be safe.

Is your valve meant to adjust for all calibers and power levels or primarily for the larger Calibers and power levels. Specifically would it enhance the performance of a .177 at 20Ft Lbs.?
Thank You
In my years now of Balanced valve use they DO NOT WORK WELL when wanting a very tight ES and lower power output in small calibers ... JMO :cautious:

Scott,
Thank you for the reply, I hope your Shoulder is on the mend ahead of schedule? I found the original TM1000 with the smaller Block was relatively easy to tune in the 12-20Ft. lbs range although I always felt it wasn’t especially efficient. I know you’ve taken them a long way since the beginning but the . 177 Raw has always been a perennial favorite of mine, As the one (actually several) I had just seemed so easy to shoot well.

Best of luck with the recovery, No Doubt many Members here are waiting to send you their pride and Joys to have you work your Magic on them!

Some seasoned airgunners are using my plenum. Yarrah from Australia is using my plenum and is happy with it.

I don't offer the valve that opens in Atmospheric pressure. However my regular upgrade i. e. High efficiency valve, plenum and anti hammer bounce device are good for 20 ftlb as well as higher powers
