Condor ss ques.

This week I have been revisiting my ss and playing with getting it to shoot 25 grain at about 900-925 fps . I feel I have it where I want it now but in the process of doing it I had to take a lot of shots and I'm noticing my ears are ringing. The gun isn't very loud at all but I think when the hammer slaps the tank it makes a strange ping noise....has this bothered any of you in the hearing dept???

I don't have a Condor, but I do know that ait gun ping sounds are highly variable in intensity, and in who they affect. I've seen some people not even notice it in a gun that would drive me nuts - and others have agreed with me on this. So it could be that it bothers you more than others . . .

Can't say for certain this is relevant or not ? ... but I've experimented with orings and flat rubber washers behind the top hat.... quite easy to install - just slice the oring or washer with razor knife and slip over tube behind the top hat - it creates a cushion between tank / top hat - quiets the hammer slap and also regulates air flow allowing more shots per fill.
My SS likes 18gr ammo best and my notes show 1000fps with #5 oring (.064") and 980fps with sanded down flat rubber washer (.062"). You will need a dental pick for removal (but who doesn't have one of those...? if you tinker with air rifles) ;) I've found it really quiets the noise and changes the dynamics of power wheel settings.
Hope this helps.

Why are you slicing it with a razor blade? I installed an o ring on my condor one day one but didn’t need to cut anything.

No top hat removal. I read posts of "some" other Airforce owners mentioning the grub (set) screws in the top hat as being "easily stripped and / or rounded off" when re-tightening. I chose to experiment by not removing top hat... slice enough material from oring/washer for continuity when installed.... and it worked great.

Oh ok. Well it’s easy enough to remove the top hat but to each their own. A person could also stretch the o ring over the top hat and install it without cutting it. But whatever works!
