I found this on Facebook by Steve Brew in the UK. It makes sense to me because it will keep the O rings from drying out and give some lubricity to metal surfaces rather than metal-on-metal contact. Rifle manufacturers are silent on this subject and I would like your and their opinion.

Tip of the week and secret disclosure of mine!
Ever wonder why you occasionally get low velocities or poor ES and SD’s, keep reading.
So with PCP airguns we are supposed to use clean filtered dry air as a fuel source for our airguns.
However this does comes with a draw back because a PCP airgun consists of many moving parts and orings. Each time we shoot there is a blast of high pressure air that rushes through the system, regulators open and close each time we shoot, valves open and close, valve rods slide inside and through orings, oring expand and contract etc not to mention that the orings become work hardened and brittle over time.
Each time we shoot, the high pressure air blows out and drys out the system, (we hang out washing out side to dry in the wind!)
The high pressure, high flow air drys out the system and blows out the assembly lubricants.
Adding 1x little drop of pure silicone oil into the Foster fill port every 4-5 full fills will help reduce wear on all internal components of your air rifle. When you add a drop of silicone oil into the fill port and then fill up your gun bottle, the silicone oil atomises under high pressure.
Each time you fire a shot you essentially coat all your internals and moving parts of the rifle, regulator, valve rod, valves, friction surfaces etc etc
This not only prolongs the life expectancy of your internals but also keeps things moving more consistently due to less friction and stiction.
And your orings will last much longer also due to remaining more supple and pliable.
Just be mindful to use just 1x drop and dont use to much, more is not better and you only need a tiny amount as it atomises under pressure to form a oily mist.
Get some silicone oil and start adding it to your routine!
