Shooting the Brocock Commander XR .177

Hello Everyone,

Another near perfect morning for shooting paper targets and my new Brocock Commander XR .177 cal shot the heck out of several targets . However this target made me smile like a Cheshire cat, that is forty 1/8" diameter 10-Rings and they were almost all punched out :D. I have made no adjustments to this rifle since I took it out of the factory box. I have to assume that AOA made some adjustments to it before sending it to me because they do a good job of pre-servicing all guns. I have not run a chronograph test but their test results show a Max 903, a Min 886, Spread 17, Average 898, and Standard Deviation 5, shooting JSB 10.43 and I am plenty happy with that. It goes without saying that I love the way this rifle shoots.

Wow!🙀 That is impressive, particularly “out the box”. But then again, you are a very talented shooter. BRK Brocock makes solid, accurate PCPs.
Hello @L.Leon and thank you.

This rifle is so comfortable to shoot from a bench. I am using a Lyman Bag and Bag Jack in the front and two large and one small Caldwell bag in the rear and it makes for a really sold mount.

Thomas, EXCELLENT card! I would be doing back flips if it were my card 😂! And, yes, that Cheshire cat had one big smile/grin....😂👍
Hello @Ranchibi ,

Well if I tried to do a back flip it would surely end my chances of ever shooting again. I turned 82 this month and doing really good to even get to the shooting bench ;). I did do several in my mind :ROFLMAO:, but then I had to take a nap . To be completely honest, I am still grinning.

@ThomasT That sounds about right. So now what happens to your RAW and other guns? Will they be sentenced to the safe for a time?
Hello @Ezana4CE ,

Well I sold my RAW a while back and I robbed the scope off the FX Crown to put on the Brocrock. I have plenty extra scopes so one will wind up on the Crown. I do still shoot the Challenger everyday, in fact I shoot it more than all the other guns. :D

ThomasT

@ThomasT That explains why I haven’t seen it. What caliber is your Challenger? Is that an AEA Challenger?
Hello @Ezana4CE

No sir, it is the Crosman Challenger in .177 caliber and I use it most of the time at 10-Meters. It shoots really well with both Wadcutter and Domed pellets. The H&N Finale Match Heavy 8.18gr wadcutter and the Air Arms Falcon 4.52mm Domed 7.33gr shoot almost identical as for as accuracy. I have been shooting some 25-yard with the Falcon and it is surprising how well it does. Here is a photo.

Well I'll be darned, deputy. That there's some pretty fine shooting. You'll be kicking yourself if you actually sell it.
Hello @rsfrid

Hey Sheriff, does this mean I get my Deputy Badge back 🤠 ? I plan on having that card Gold Plated 🤩.

You've always had your badge, deputy. It's just that the fair maiden Miss Dottie tried to best you at pop bottles at 30 yards with her black powder revolver and you took your badge off and threw it to the pigs. Now with this display of accuracy, I'd suggest getting both your badge and your peace maker gold plated so as to show up that fair maiden! 😅🤣😂🫢

LOL Thomas! My mother is 84 and still going strong like you, you remind me of each other, sharp, smart, caring, fun with the zeal of one much younger! She is 24 yrs/older than me and I hope to one day be like her and you! And, never wipe that beautiful grin from your face!

Hello @rsfrid

OK, please tell Miss Dottie that I accept the challenge. 10-Meters, .177 or .22 caliber and she can pick the target ( as long as it is one that I already have ). We each shoot 3 cards ( she can name the date ) and turn them in here. Old West Rules apply, no cheating, no mulligans ( what you shoot is what you get ) and no spitting on any target 🤠 .
