Do you shoot using safety glasses?

i've been shooting for over 36 years (Work) and safety glasses and hearing protection was mandatory. As we told the recruits in the academy....We can give you hearing aids, but we can't give you another eye. 🫣 Even when I go hunting I am wearing some kind of eye protection. With PCP's no hearing protection (👍), but I do wear eye protection.

Most glasses I've tried interfere with my scope/eye alignment. The upper frame always seems to be in the way. Glasses are hard for to keep clean and dry during hot weather. I only wear them when someone at the range is pistol shooting steel. Lots of splatter and bounce back even at 25 yards.

In all other situations I don't use them. I never shoot anything that would cause a bounce back. A well made backstop and a small amount of intelligence takes care of that.

Not always, but I should. I had a .45 pistol blow up in my hands once. I was still wearing corrective lenses at the time, and they were reasonably shatter proof. A piece of the frame hit my right lens, took a chip out, but probably saved my eye. Got away with only a broken thumb. That reinforced the importance of eye protection for me, and I never shoot a metallic cartridge firearm or shotgun without protection. I cheat sometimes with my air rifles, but that's probably stupid, as HPA is just as dangerous as gunpowder.

Yup, range/gun safety is range/gun safety regardless of medium. One of those rather have em and not need em, than really wishing I had em on when I needed them. Always amazed how sometimes folks don't treat PCP's with proper gun handling respect bc it's "not a firearm."

I don't shoot real golf balls any longer with pellets either. Almost put my eye out when I was 18 shooting a golf ball at 20ish yards. Stars aligned and it was a direct alignment ricochet right back at me. Luckily my head control wasn't as disciplined back then and the pellet ended up coming back and hitting me right in the temple--almost knocked me out. Lessons learned shooting stuff 😁
