King of RMAC 2022

I've seen the latest ad for the FX Crown, and it says "The King of RMAC 2022".
I'm wondering if FX will offer the 20 pound drop weight that was used an option, since it was used on the King's gun?
:ROFLMAO:
But really, how many use additional weights on their BR guns, how much, and where are they placed? I've tried a 4 pound weight low and forward on my .22 RW HP at RMAC 2021, and at the time it seemed to work well, but later on when I tried it afterwards it seemed to negatively affect the harmonics of my gun, perhaps because I wasn't shooting from a concrete bench?

I believe all guns should have a 10lb weight restriction in these BR comp’s as they do in cf heavy varmint class.
I also believe these extreme amounts of weight added to these very low recoiling guns is not a advantage at all, especially the flex prone actions and barrels of some rifles.

Didn't he use a jack or something? I didn't make it to RMAC but while looking at videos I saw that "bipod," smart. More than a weight it helped stabilize the rifle. I know there are a few guys that weigh their rifles down, but I don't necessarily see too much correlation with titles, other than most of these guys being good shots. After all, a lot of guys at RMAC and EBR, probably 10-15, weigh their airguns down and don't rank. Can't hurt though and it makes sense to do it.

If I ever put away my mic and put some big boy pants on, I will go straight to the top with a clump of concrete as my weight. I think I'll stick some rebar in it, a wooden construction stake, some masonry line hanging out (the pink kind) and of course a Macdonald's coffee permanently infused into the concrete. I figured one 80lb sack should put me right to the top. @Laity got nothing on this guy. 🤣

additional weight is beneficial until it becomes detrimental as you have noticed already. Obviously whenever anything is changed on the gun you need to fine tune it again, more the better but with with more weight you need to really watching for the harmonics and add a harmonic tuner even with a solid barrel. There is no simple answer obviously, but watching what ULR/ELR guys do in the CF world does provide some hints on approach. You and the gun form a complete system and if anything changed at all the entire system might need to adjust to get the desired results. There are a ton of variables and very difficult to track down but that's the fun of the sport right?

I envision the harmonics and vibrations in a system like this piano wire stretched out tight by clamps 10’ apart at each end.
You twang on it and you get this slow awkward twang so slow you can count the vibrations.
Move the left side clamp in towards the right halfway then twang on it again. Different tone, a bit more high pitched, vibrations are tighter, and less of.

You get the clamps like within a foot of each other, twang on it, it’s actually harder to twang on, vibrations are almost non existent and immediately stop.
The clamps are the weights. You start to weigh things down and more faults arise that you were never aware of like you’ll be feeling the hammer slam onto to the valve even more so. You’ll realize your bipod/tripod hops up a tiny bit with each shot. I use the ST field monopod and although I love it, the magnetic system is not solid to the right side of the gun. The little play it has causes the rear of my impact to kick inward towards my cheek, which if I don’t accommodate for that kick, it throws the shot to the right. Have never noticed that till I started the anti vibration quest.

Address all of these one by one and before long you’ll realize it wasn’t all you being a bone head shooter. Understand that I’m not some pro or someone with years of benchrest experience. These are things I learned just by being at RMAC, watching people and snapping photos with each eyelid blink, lol

Why, as I typed all of this, did I keep envisioning the threes stooges when they got all caught up inside a piano???

Yes, he had a couple of brick sized weights on his gun, must have been at least 20 pounds... Nicolay had a large similar weight on his gun that he shot at EBR 2021 where he had the fourth highest finals score.

Well how else are you going to support all that weight?

But you look at the video in the post you will also see there is virtually no movement in his gun when he shoots.

Gotta get my jack out of the Honda and get it ready for the weight Im gonna put on mine!...

Hope they don't change the rules yet!

Wait, I actually have to plan on participating first 🤔

I believe all guns should have a 10lb weight restriction . . .

Restrictions-restrictions... limiting people. Gimme more, gimme more. Just the thing this world needs more of. Restricting as much and as many as possible. (sic)

Not the first one suggesting such meddling interference. Guess the urge for meddling comes in all kinds of concealing wrappings. This Powers guy comes up with a very balanced configuration of shooting equipment.
Why would anyone try and cancell that kind of excercise ?
Why?
Where 's the advantage?
And for whom?

Why not simply learn from it instead ... Anyone underestimating this kind of coordinating excercise, in so doing declares himself just not getting it.

As long as the organisation provided table can carry the 25 grains shooting gun without any problem whatsoever, why is it for anyone to start fingerpointing with sham-cloaked remarks keeping up appearances...
Why not just try and beat what this Powers guy did in this excelling performance of his, shooting a mere 25 grains in .22 .
Might that kind of attitude of 'try and do better' not just be a far better exercise, instead of trying to limit and restrict people on their used gear?
Why would anyone try and keep a good man down ? . . . And for that matter : would you yourself appreciate someone restricting yóu when trying to realise your own inspired efforts which prove to work for you ?...

Would yóu yourself like being held down ? ... somewhat further along the line subsequently reduced to "one of the conforming herd" containing only sheep bleating all alike?
Without ever any possibility whatsoever left to distinguish oneself by individual resourcefulness?
I mean ... where is this going to?
Will this kind of above proposed restriction then be the last?
Or will the next restriction then perhaps sound like 'no more gun modifications nor personalizations at all' ?
Or even better still : everyone participant competing with the exactly same brand of gun ? Preferably state-approved perhaps ? (sic)
Is this what today 's world needs more of ?... more meddling interference curtailing individual competence ? If you re really keen on such idea then please say so and put your hand up. Right away raising that hand high enough pls, so that everyone may see it from the first time on.

This smart guy nailed it :
Well you know the saying, "history is written by the winners" way she goes bubs.

It's easier to bitch and whine and try to hold people back than build them up. This guy did well? Let's scrutinize the gear!

Everyone knows these unreliable guns, with the flimsy action and soda straw barrels simply can't produce results on their own merit. (This is called sarcasm, please don't put me on time-out again)
