I had my Taipan Veteran for just under 3 years now and it's been brilliant. Is possible to make the safety easier (require less force) to operate? Vendor had no suggestions.

???? I'm puzzled. All 3 taipans that I ever used have a very easy safety that clicks definitly when engaged or disengaged. If you had the gun apart in any way you would have needed to reset the trigger linkage upon reassembly. if you where a tiny bit to tight with the linkage rod that will affect the tension on the safety switch making it harder to use. If you have never had this gun apart, degas it , remove from the stock and you will see a trigger plate in the back. Inside, once cover is removed, the trigger linkage bar is slid into a receiver and held with a 2mm screw. loosen that screw and slide the bar in or out a tiny bit and re tighten. then test trigger and safety function before reassembling into stock. it will be either smoother or much tighter. keep adjusting the rod if necessary and pretty quickly you will find the sweet spot. once completed reassemble the stock and air up.

The taipan safety is about as easy as it gets , try using your STRONG HAND! in all seriousness though, I dont have any suggestions except for the above mentioned.

I second this recommendation for a possible resolution to your safety switch issue. I will also offer a second option, just never use it! The design of safeties in the great majority of rifles is far less than perfect, and I rarely use them, and always decock the rifle when moving. Fortunately, the Veteran has possibly the best anti-double load design in the business. It allows decocking with a pellet in the chamber, then recocking when needed, and the process can be repeated unlimited without double loading. Like most fake two-stage triggers, the Taipan sear is in its final position when the rifle is cocked, and a safety that prevents moving the trigger blade offers no real protection from this very fine engagement failing, resulting in an unintentional discharge. When decocked, you have a truly safe condition, and given the Taipan design, I see no need to use the safety. Just my opinion.

I picked up a new Vet Compact earlier this year and had a similar safety issue. Unscrew the trigger housing from the main body and make sure nothing is binding in the. I can't recall what the particular issue was, but unscrewing the trigger housing and muking about until the safety was right worked for me.

Likely NOTHING MORE than making a minor linkage reset at the connection within side cover.
Action Out of the stock ... 2 screws removed on side cover ( Left side of receiver block ) remove cover.
Note actuator rod entering on lower left side and small screw that clamps it down. LOOSEN SCREW & then SET SAFETY ... Tighten screw and reassemble.
DONE !!

I never had a need to take the gun apart as it always just worked. Tuning for comfort if you will. Decocking is not a bad idea either... hmm. Thanks everyone.

Old thread, so sorry if the preferred method is to start a new thread - not sure with this forum, since I'm very new here.
But, I just purchased a Taipan Veteran Long .25, second hand, and am curious about the safety. I can easily push it forward about 1 out of 3 times, then the others, I have to push the trigger forward, at which point the safety switch is extremely easy to engage and disengage. Since I'm new to this hobby, and purchased the rifle second hand, I'm not quite sure what I should try in an effort to remedy this issue. Sounds like there is a trigger mechanism that can be pulled out and a linkage that can be adjusted, but I can't find a great source of a "how-to" get into the inner areas of this rifle - the rifle did not come with a manual, and the online manual just has a parts picture, but no details of what is what. Any help is appreciated.

I did, and referenced some of the notes. I'm unsure how to dig into the trigger area - not only new to the forum, but new to airguns in general. I'm not trying to be thick, but I simply don't know what I don't know. And when you say watch a Taipan video on youtube, which video. The only videos that come up when searching "dissemble taipan veteran" are videos of folks adding the huma regulator, I don't see anything about how to remove the "action" from the stock.

At 6.09 Wilhelm opens the trigger box at 6.40 he it tightening the trigger linkage and at the end he shows how to install the stock correctly. You will need a metric allen key set.
