FX Maverick vs Impact M3

I recently purchased a Maverick sniper .30 cal. Had a few problems with it the first week of ownership but managed to work out the bugs fairly quickly and now this gun is shooting like a dream. I'm now considering an Impact M3 compact in .22 cal and I'm curious to know if the Impact is all that or if I'd be better off just getting a caliber change kit for my Maverick. Basically is one better then the other? I appreciate any input.

I own both the Maverick and M3 as well as an M2 and each one has its own place. The Maverick is a wonderful rifle which is extremely easy to tune in comparison to the M3. The M3 will give you more power and more flexibility with pellets and slugs. The Maverick can shoot slugs and pellets great but the M3 allows for greater weight range as it can push the heavier slugs better.
I switch between both rifles but most backyard shooting, for me, is the Maverick. I have the Maverick tuned in .22 with 30gr Varmint Knockers while the M3, originally a .35, is now set for .25 pushing the 40gr Varmint Knockers.
It really also depends on what your shooting at; hunting or just paper.

When in doubt ALWAYS buy another rifle !

There is definitely a lot of truth to that, I bought many barrels and still ended up with multiple guns! 😅

you can look at it this way, a barrel kit with mag is about 500 bones, A M3 is 2200 so the gun is really 1700 bones because you gonna buy the barrel anyways. 🤔

That's a really good way to look at it!!

Of course, it doesn't negate the absolute truth that Impact701 said..."When in doubt ALWAYS buy another rifle !"

If you already own a FX that you are enjoying no matter the caliber, why not get a different type of rifle in .22? For example a Huben is a ton of fun and very powerful, accurate and quiet. Or possibly get an LCS? Or go super sub compact with a Lelya 2.0 in .22 for a totally different feel and experience. If you want another FX in .22 maybe check out the Wildcat MK3. The M3 is popular for a reason, but compared to the Maverick it's still pretty close to the same feel and experience. If I wanted to buy another caliber I would also buy a different shooting experience with that purchase. Either way it's a win win.

The reason I say that is I debated the same thing.

I have a MKII in .25 caliber I wanted to try .30 caliber. I ordered a .30 barrel kit and magazine.

Now that I have it shooting in .30 caliber I still want to shoot .25 caliber but I don't want to change everything back.

Along comes the M3 !

I have an M3 on order with Utah Airguns.

Yeah, I know. Mine is prepaid as well. I ordered through Baker Airguns. Mike told me its pretty vague with FX. He said sometimes he gets them in 3 weeks and sometimes its 3 months. So we will see. But I figured the only way I'm going to get one is to bite the bullet and get on the waiting list. I think I got lucky when I bought my Maverick. Because once I made up my mind to buy one Baker Airguns just happened to have a sniper in stock in .30 caliber, exactly what I was looking for. Had it in just under a week.

Got a call from Baker Airguns today. They are shipping out my Impact M3 today and it should be in my hand around Monday or Tuesday of this next week. I guess I got lucky based on some of the wait times some have been experiencing.

Congratulations on getting your M3! From July22nd to now is actually pretty quick. Took close to 3 months for mine to arrive...

I almost bought an M3 compact, but by the time I thought about it, they were gone so I bought the Maverick compact 22cal they had in stock. I really like the gun and hope the 300cc/300bar carbon fiber tank comes out soon. I'm still going to buy another Maverick or M3 this fall in either the mid or sniper version. I'm still not sure what the difference is in the compact M3 22cal being rated at 45fp and the Maverick being rated at 55 foot pounds. I couldn't get my Maverick to hit 55 foot pounds without the slug power kit with the heavy hammer weight. Before installing the kit it would max out around 43 foot pounds with JSB 33.95's.
