Stud Mag Loader for FX

I just tried out my new Stud Mag Loader for my FX Dreamline .22 cal. https://www.dlhdev.com/  All I can say is - WOW!!.Loading a magazine is slow, we all know that. If you have sausage fingers like me it can also be frustrating. The Stud system is incredibly simple, easy and quick. I bought their kit which consists of a feeder and four magazines. After a couple of practice sessions I was able to load my FX magazine and the four Stud Mag Loaders in under five minutes.

I could go into a long-winded explanation as to how it works, but just watch the videos on the Stud website. They do a great job of explaining the operation. Yeah, the kit is $100, which is spendy. But if you bought four FX mags it would cost nearly $250 and you would still have to load them by hand.

Prior to the Stud system, I tried a Speed Dial loader. While the Speed Dial is a clever design, it has to be hand loaded like an FX magazine, which for Ol' Sausage Fingers here, led to more than the occasional pellet going in backwards. This leads to the further challenge of removing the inverted pellet without dumping out all of the pellets. If you have experienced this situation, please PM me and I'll send you the appropriate profanity strings to go with the unloading process. I'm not saying the Speed Dial is a horrible alternative, I just find the Stud system to be simpler and faster to use. The Speed Dial has the advantage that it can be loaded with slugs, whereas the Stud is pellets only.

So if you like to burn through pellets like I do the Stud will definitely feed your fire.

I actually don’t mind and enjoy loading by hand, and that’s why I’m a big fan of the ELIS speed loaders. Simple, and in these days of constant tech change, simple is always welcome. I actually use the time handloading mags and Elis’s speed loaders to go over better shooting strategies for the next round of targets, and make mental notes of what I think I did wrong on the target I just shot at.

It’s probably the same reason I haven’t bought a Dillon multi stage press and handload one at a time with my 25 year old RCBS rock chucker.

DaveT1 I agree with you completely. I have also tried some of the other systems (for Impact, not Crown/Dreamline/etc) and to me the Stud system beats them all due to its 'pour & shake' design.

And it not only helps those with sausage fingers. A couple I introduced to airguns chose to get their guns in .25 over .22 cal due to the manual dexterity in their hands. They could just handle the larger pellets more easily. I turned them on to the Stud mag loading system and they love it. They spent less money and just got the feeder and one loader, and they just use it to load their multiple mags all at one time.

This design seems like a breakthrough to me in mag loaders, and I have found their quality to be excellent. They are great in the Dreamline configuration, but they shine even brighter for the really big Impact mags.

I got my Stud Mag Loader feeder and speed loader magazines this past weekend for my .177 M3. These things are amazing, especially the shaker.

Pros:

  • It takes about 10 minutes for me to fill my 450 bottle with my portable charger. Previously in this time I could load 4 full magazines by hand using tweezers. With the shaker, in the same amount of time I can load 3 full magazines and 4 of the speed loaders with time to spare. Since I shoot a about 15 FPE, I can shoot all 270 pellets before recharging the bottle. magazines and loader again. Still adapting to the new system, but no longer need to use tweezers and I'm getting faster with the Stud Mag loaders.
  • FX has changed over from a 38 shot magazine in .177 to 34. As someone else has mentioned in this forum, you can still use the Stud Mag loader on these 34 shot magazines. You just end up with 4 extra pellets resting on top of the loaded FX magazine and have to pick those off.

Con:

  • Way too easy to shoot a half tin of pellets in a single shooting session!
  • Have not figured out how to adapt the speed loader to my Eagle Vision magazine. I found I prefer the original FX magazines now, and reserve the Eagle Vision for Slugs
