Polymag .25cal: What Max. Velocity? ▪ BC? ▪ Expansion?

.25 cal Predator Polymags are brilliant when shot from original Smooth Twist barrel. Effective twist rate at 1:74" Other data on targets. Nothing else beats their expansion at reasonable velocities. The sound on a rabbit or fox is like a bat hitting a mattress.

    RWS Excalibre/ Tarantula

Dear ......... , Harry Fuller (Yrrah) in Australia here. The Excalibre was made by FX (Fredrik Axelsson) in Sweeden as one of the numerous variations of the FX 2000. You should contact FX in USA (I presume you live there) to inquire about getting a probe. Otherwise contact Fredrik Axelsson...

    RWS Excalibre/ Tarantula

If this thread is still fresh and has been added to, then PIEASE NOTIFY ME. ... Very best regards to all the FX 2000 variation owners/shooters. If you have one resting in your gun safe, perhaps get it out and try some of the newer JSB pellet variations. A good start would be the .22 JSB Hades...

    BC of JSB 25.39

The BC changes depending on your rifle/barrel, velocity, range (velocity related) and environmental conditions. Here is a graph derived from actual average velocity figures over 50, 100, and 200 yards which I researched when the Kings first came out some 9 or 10 yrs ago. The best fit line...

    15gr JSBs

It is old ànd had been on the 300 yd fence and duty at that range, left out between farm visits. One of the small ones, it could be 100 yrs old so I might clean it up and check for a manufacturer's stamp. Cast iron, as most were in earlier times here. Many old farms here have them lying about...

Reg Pressure Effects on Pellet Stability

In the recent post I made re-history of ag accuracy I showed groups shot by Lampies Lamprecht in RSA .( See the pic in my post down the page) In an oblique way part of the answer to your question may be addressed. Note the bar fill readings in what I think (but will stand correction if wrong)...

Airgun accuracy is not just a recent phenomenon.

This from a twenty year old FX design. Shot 13 and a half years ago as one of dozens less than an inch at 100 yd even back then with 15.9 gr JSB Exacts. Then take a look at these groups shot 6 years ago by Lampies Lamprecht (RSA) in 2013. 100 yards Lh 0.37 inches 5 shots and Rh 5 shots in...

    15gr JSBs

OK, try this for starters .... sighter: Sighter plus 5 shot group. Note the velocity and range. Yes it was a fair day: Have shot rabbits to 152 yards with the 15.9 gr JSB from just 880 fps. Give them a go. Kind regards , Harry. nd

BSA Hornet (15 year old Bowkett design) onthe 50 metre rimfire range/targets.

Yes nomojo, 12 grooves in the BSA, almost like the old Marlin rimfire "micro-groove" barrels ( or were they 16g ). In respect to your comment on rests; Lampies Lamprecht in RSA shoots over rolled up towels. He has shot a number of the very tightest sub half MOA 100 yards 5 shot groups to...

BSA Hornet (15 year old Bowkett design) onthe 50 metre rimfire range/targets.

Shot last Sunday at my club in a 50 metre/55 yards rimfire benchrest practice day using sand bags front and rear, no machine rest. First my five shot sighter group : Then the 20 shot target. I chose not to adjust the sight but to hold off. Got caught with head and tail wind changes in...

My low power pellet design MK1

Yes, apart from accuracy, which was surprising, the question related to the possibilities of stability and expansion. I have added a short edit. Your purpose is different. Press on because I did enough to show very practical accuracy to indoor barn ranges. Kind regards, Harry.

My low power pellet design MK1

In 2010 I experimented with what I termed "Tube pellets" hand drilled in similar manner to what you are trying. Here is a report I wrote at the time. Note that I used felt cleaning pellets to seal the air in the passage up the barrel. But the pellets did shoot very well to 15 to 20 yards...
