Help choosing a Pistol for HFT.

I shoot a Brocock Atomic XR .177 at 12 Ft-lb and it is a laser with 10.3s, QYS 9.56 (but the catch the wind) and 13.4s. I have an Athlon 4-12 on it and I just leave the stock adapter on it so I can easily thread on the stock and I've got a carbine. My grandkids love it as it is so adjustable for...

Results Ultimate Field Target @ PRGC-November 2024 Match Results

Thanks Again to Ben for an excellent, fun and challenging match. Thanks to Cole for an excellent report. It was a near perfect day for shooting. I really enjoyed the 72 target match even though the long ones reminded me why I need to get to the range and practice beyond 55 yd shots.

Where have all the QYS 9.56 domed pellets gone?

I've noticed that there are no QYS domed 9.56 grain pellets in captivity at any of the major suppliers, AOA, Pyramid Air, or Airgun Depot. There does appear to be QYS 10m air pistol and air rifle wad cutter style pellets, but no domed 9.56 grain. I did see some for sale in the UK but they...

Sightron SIII FIELD TARGET 10-50X60 IR Why is it so recommended/used for field target?

"Because it ranges very well". I've been shooting Hunter Field Target for about 5 years now and I believe the ability to range and the ability to shoot offhand are the two determining factors that allow me to compete well. Off hand is tons of practice, but ranging is the scope. I have an Aztec...

Hats off to Ben for his ideas, his fortitude, and his sacrifice to make Ultimate Field Target a reality for those of us who enjoy shooting air rifle Field Target in all its forms. Without Ben, Ultimate Field Target would still be on the back of a napkin somewhere. Thanks Ben!!

    Snowpeak PP20

AAR on Air recently did a review of the Snowpeak PP20 and it was very favorable. I then looked on the Krale website and the pistol is out of stock. Where does one get one in in Canada? For the money, tough to beat if you aren’t a top competition shooter in my book.

Just a curiosity question. Do all the pistols above meet the Hunter FT length requirements?? Is that requirement 14 inches?

    Field target sources (for targets)

Ben Spencer and Mike Smith, I believe both members of the forum make excellent Field Target, Targets. Their targets can be shot with 12 ft-lb up to 100 Ft-lb air rifles and subsonic .22lr. Ben is the creator of Ultimate Field Target and holds matches at Phoenix Rod and Gun Club in AZ. Ben posted...

What pistol did you shoot today

Shot the Brocock Atomic XR, .177 as a pistol in the Airgunners of Arizona monthly Field Target Pistol/Springer match at Ben Avery Shooting Complex. 12-18 MPH winds with some higher gusts at the beginning of the match. I was the only pistol and most everyone else shot springer rifles. 26-48, it...

    Forced Kneeling

I feel that off hand or unsupported shots are part of the skill set for FT. Standing puts everyone in the the same degree of freedom, but kneeling usually helps remove some degrees of freedom or movement if you can kneel. That is why the Kill Zones tend to be smaller for kneeling. I don’t see a...

    What are your favorite targets?

I enjoy shooting Field Target so I made some targets that are auto reset and are exactly the range of Field Targets I shoot.
