I said 1mm would be the minimum, usually it's more like 3 to 6mm.

I find that stroke is a big factor in getting an SSG to work well, once you find a spring rate that works 0.050" is way too small IMO and will still be causing hammer bounce, I usually work on 1mm as the minimum gap.

I did wonder about the spool valve O rings but as I said I would expect a badly sealing O ring there to cause a leak and in turn cause the reg pressure to be continually cycling to keep the pressure up, but I have seen no sign of this through using a digital gauge just the normal reg recovery...

That would be a very good point if I hadn't already replaced the O rings in the HP reg with Viton, and I have a digital gauge on the HP side, so no creep.

You can get FX adapters so you can use an FX quick detachable bottle valve, and the Lane reg allows you to fill the bottle before the reg.
