Its gravity. The further the pellet travels the more it will drop. You will need to adjust your aim higher the further out you are shooting. This is why you have the extra hash marks on your scope so you can adjust your aim and have a reference for the future.

I would just get a compressor. No need to worry about getting the tank filled you can fill the gun directly at home or some connect to 12V for filling from your car battery.
