Vortex Viper PST Gen2 3-15x owners - Usable inside 20 yards?

I began with the same Hawke Sidewinder and went to the same Vortex you're asking about. It will focus below 20 feet, but not at the same sharpness as the parallax goes further and further out of it's range. I found he Viper PST Gen2 is miles better than the Hawke.

    Sideshot scope

Are you actually having a problem, or are you asking if it will work with a side wheel? Based on the distances on my gun/scopes I see no reason why it wouldn't work on any scope, even with a side wheel.

Initial setup and sighting of SideShot on Nightforce ATACR 4-16x42 FFP. Mounted on FX Impact 600mm X barreled .30 and target @ 75 yds. Videoed using Filmic Pro, but I neglected to do a last minute focus. https://vimeo.com/292772341

What is your favorite Binocular ?

After trying out as many sets as I could I went with the Kowa Genesis 8x33 w/Prominar XD Lens. My reasons for this particular brand and model were the size, power, and outstanding glass. I've always been impressed by Kowa's telescopes, so it was high on my list before comparisons began. A...

Glass equal or better than gun?

I have always tried to end up with a scope on my guns that was it's equal. I had the exact same scope that Michael has above before recently switching to a Nightforce ATACR FFP 4-16x42. Although the ED glass and wider tubing is an upgrade, it probably isn't quite worth the big increase in cost...

Photo of my Nightforce ATACR FFP 4-16X42 Mounted on the .30 Impact

I'm using the Nightforce UniMount rail with a built-in 20 MOA taper to maximize long-range capability. I don't know if I'll ever be shooting quite that far, but it's there.

The Nightforce prices I'm seeing above must be for either the NXS or SHV lines. With Nightforce's substantial military discount I paid just over $2K for the ATACR F1 scope alone. The parallax is not an issue for me. I literally never shoot at distances less than that, although I haven't seen a...

It’s the thinnest FFP I’ve seen.

Jld1969... I like the scope a lot, great size if a bit heavy. I feel the the reticle and optical power are perfect. BTW my Impact X is a 600mm. I gave up a bit of velocity for the slightly more compact size.

I often shoot from my side porch into the woods. One target is only 50 yards (originally set up for my .22 Wildcat), but the other is a more suitable 100.

    Scope Reticle

I use a Tipton gun vice and a couple of levels too initially set up the Impact. My Nightforce unimount has a level as well, so after mounting the scope it's about as level as it can be to start the process. From there the hanging string works well, although I also use a particular door edge...

    Are all anti-cant levels equal?

I have this Nightforce 34mm top half of ring with level on the way. Looks like it will be perfect on the extended unimount.

    Best suppressor for Impact X?

I previously had a .22 Wildcat and used Donny's adaptor and Sumo, which worked great. When I switched to a .30 Impact I went with Donny's shroud, which make the whole setup slightly shorter, and a Ronin. If I were you I'd give Donny a call and get his recommendation, he makes a great product and...

    night force

I chose a Nightforce ATACR F1 4-16x42. Plenty of magnification for the 100 to 150 yards I usually target shoot at, and parallax to 45 yards (below which I never shoot with my Impact .30). It's compact at 12.6 inches and a little heavy due to the fantastic 34mm construction, features, and glass...
