Sorry to hear about the farm Dairyboy. We sold our family farm 17 years ago. Seeing it sold was every bit as painful as a death in the family. It was hard work, but now holds a place in my heart with the best memories. I still capture our farm in the backdrop of many of my photos, but it’s...
I missed that you were inquiring about skirtless for a 97. I do like the skirtless set-up in my TX, but it’s target only and sub-12. Running bronze bearings machined for fit in the comp tube, and set as far apart as possible helps with stability. Having a perfect or near perfectly straight...
The taper on oem TX rods work just fine with skirtless pistons. Just make sure you are using a nice straight rod when assembling the skirtless piston. Steve
Make sure you are putting at least 10-15 shots through the bore for each pellet change before evaluating accuracy. You could even pull a couple plain dry patches through the bore between each pellet change, then maybe 20-30 shots to settle things in, then test on target. Steve
Nice shooting Frank, and beautiful FWB SSP! I have my 603 with David Slade getting a rebuild. I did stand for a few shots after I put the new diopter on. I wanted to make sure I could still see clearly in a standing position. I would need a lot more practice for the standing shots😂 Steve
I tried to get a nice balance between the focus ring and the adjustable aperture but it didn’t work for my eyes for some reason. When I would fine tune for focus that was split between front sight ring and target, the front sight ring would have an ovalized shape which made it difficult for...
The rear diopter that came with the rifle had an internal lens with adjustable focus. I just couldn’t get it to work with my eyes. No matter how I tried to fine tune the focus it just wasn’t giving me consistency on target. So I removed it in favor of a standard style with no internal lens...
After making a couple changes to the sights on my FWB 300s, I decided to give an official 10-meter target a try. My indoor range is actually 11.5 meters, close enough. As much as I like my scopes, I’m really enjoying the diopter sights.
